Started here. Grew here. 🌱

Jesse’s Horizon story started as a Lead Hand. Since then, he’s stepped into roles as Foreman, Project Manager, and now Field Manager for our Sea-to-Sky Construction team.

His career path is a pretty good example of what growth can look like when hard work meets opportunity.

“What has always stood out to me is Horizon’s recognition of hard work. Consistent effort is noticed and rewarded, creating opportunities for people who are committed to contributing and growing.”

We’re proud to have people like Jesse building their careers here — and helping the people around them build theirs too.

A career at Horizon means stability, variety, and a path that grows with you.

Our service divisions cover everything from hydro-vac and utility location to snow and ice management to large-scale landscape construction. That range keeps our crews working year-round, but it also creates opportunities for our people to learn across trades.

You might start in one division and find yourself gaining experience in another. Along the way, you build skills in equipment operation, site coordination, and technical problem-solving. That kind of exposure makes you a stronger tradesperson and opens doors to project management and leadership roles too.

And because we operate across multiple sites and services, opportunities come from within. You don’t have to leave to take the next step.

It’s why Horizon isn’t just another place to work. It’s a place to build a career that lasts.

Great landscapes start with construction expertise, not plants.

Our Landscape Construction division handles grading, drainage, hardscaping, and structural elements from day one. By the time planting crews arrive, the foundation is solid, the elevations are accurate, and the site is ready.

So water flows where it should. Walkways and retaining walls are built to last. And every surface is prepared to support the next phase without delays or costly fixes.

From structural footings to precise grading, our team handles every detail that makes a landscape both functional and durable. Because even the most beautiful design won’t work if the foundation isn’t right.

Most people only see the result. A trimmed tree line. An irrigated green space. A property that looks sharp day after day.

What they don’t see are the crews working early mornings and long days to make it happen.

The work we do is year-round. It calls for arborists handling unpredictable weather. Operators managing heavy equipment on tight sites. Maintenance crews troubleshooting irrigation in the summer, then preparing landscapes to transition smoothly into fall.

It rarely gets noticed until it stops. And that’s exactly why it matters.

Because the work isn’t just about mowing grass or trimming trees. It’s about trust that clients can count on every season.

That trust is built by our people. And their commitment is why Horizon stands behind every service we provide.

Labour Day gives us a chance to celebrate the people who build our communities.

So, today, we want to give a shout-out to the folks who show up every day to create the outdoor spaces where businesses operate and people gather. It takes skilled people to do site preparation, grading, planting, and hardscaping just right.

And the work isn't always straightforward. Weather changes plans, and equipment breaks down. So our team adapts and finds ways to keep projects moving forward.

Our industry depends on people in different roles. Office coordination, field crews, project management, and safety oversight. Everyone has a part in getting projects completed properly.

Today, we honour our team and all the trade professionals who take their work seriously. You build the spaces that make our communities better. And that's worth recognizing.

We're growing and looking for folks who want to build a career, not just pick up a paycheque.

What’s the difference? People who see potential in the construction industry. Those who understand that the work we do creates the outdoor spaces where businesses operate and people gather.

When you join Horizon, you're part of a team that takes on everything from office coordination to hands-on fieldwork. Different roles, but everyone contributes to getting projects done right.

We have openings in the office and the field. Both tracks offer room to grow as we take on more work across BC. So if you're looking to build something long-term in the construction industry, we should talk.

We recently celebrated core value winners at our Okanagan location.

Brandon, Alessandro, and Jerrid each earned recognition for embodying what makes Horizon different. Our four core values (United, Determined, Genuine, and Accountable) are the foundation of how we approach every project and every relationship.

When team members live these values, it shows in their work and in how they treat each other. It's what sets the tone for collaboration with our clients and creates the kind of culture people want to be part of.

The best part about recognizing these achievements is seeing how they inspire others on the team. When you celebrate the behaviours you value, you get more of them. And that benefits everyone—our people, our clients, and the projects we deliver together.

Congratulations to Brandon, Alessandro, and Jerrid for showing what it means to be Horizon.

Horizon recently expanded its hydrovac services division, Vacterra, with the acquisition of Clearwater Environmental.

Clearwater has been an established name in the Fraser Valley for years, and this partnership brings our slurry processing plant count to two in the region. That translates to increased efficiency and capacity for our clients.

What makes this acquisition particularly exciting is the natural alignment between our organisations. Clearwater has built a strong reputation in environmental services, and they share our commitment to environmental responsibility. Their team understands the importance of proper waste processing and sustainable practices in hydrovac operations.

The expanded capacity means we can handle larger projects and serve more communities simultaneously. Our combined resources allow us to respond faster and manage more complex requirements across utility locating, slot trenching, and environmental remediation work.

Together, Horizon and Clearwater are better positioned to meet the needs of our clients who rely on safe, efficient hydrovac services.

We give people room to grow and the support to do their best work.

Horizon looks for individuals who are motivated, want to learn, and take responsibility. And once they’re here, we give them the structure, tools, and guidance to work with confidence. That includes clear expectations, regular check-ins, and direction on what comes next.

We recognize the people who step up and take initiative. And we continue to challenge them in ways that help them build lasting careers in the industry. It’s an approach that works for our team, our clients, and the work we deliver.

If you’re looking for that kind of work environment, we’re your team.

Horizon’s irrigation crew now carries the QWEL Pro badge.

This certification, earned through Kelowna’s Water Smart WaterSense course, reinforces our commitment to responsible irrigation practices and long-term performance in the field.

With this training, our team is equipped to assess system performance zone by zone. That includes checking pressure, adjusting runtimes, reviewing spray patterns, and identifying areas where water use can be reduced without compromising plant health. Every adjustment helps extend system life, improve plant performance, and lower water bills.

The QWEL Pro certification also helps unlock rebate opportunities tied to water-efficient upgrades. That means added value for property owners and support for regional conservation efforts.

By continuing to build knowledge across our crews, we’re better prepared to meet the season ahead with the right skills, the right approach, and a clear focus on performance.
