Caulk over a leaking J-channel isn’t a fix. It’s a delay.

Water doesn’t care what’s on the surface — it finds its way underneath regardless. The only real solution is to remove the temporary patch, lift the siding, and install kick-out flashing properly behind the step flashing.

The whole point is keeping water flowing into the gutter — not spilling over the top and running where it shouldn’t. Clean install, wiped down, zero gaps.

Caulk is not a fix.

This kick-out flashing was installed incorrectly — water was running behind the siding instead of being directed away from the wall. We corrected the install, and ran a full water test to confirm zero leaks.
