Great session today! It was wonderful to see you all and to see how much the garden is flourishing under all of your care 😊 Joanna and Loretta planted the marigolds in the tomato bed for some companion planting magic! Mark and Brian edged the beds, Paula and Sujata w**ded, harvested and planted. We even got a cute bicycle planter from Kate.

The raspberries are like candy right now! And Paula discovered just how sweet the stevia leaves are (can be found in our herb bed). Next time folks are at the garden and are curious about it, feel free to pick a leaf and give it a taste! Way sweeter than I ever imagined! Thanks to everyone who has been coming out throughout the week to care for the garden. You all ROCK!! ❤️

Hi everyone! The Growing to Give Community Garden is entered in this grant program from Nature's Path Organic and the way to win the grant money is by acquiring the most votes. I believe it is one vote per email address. Voting is open from today (June 12) until June 25th. Would everyone be able to follow this link and put in a vote? And to spread the word as well? Here's the link to the voting page:

https://gardensforgood.naturespath.com/en-ca/ -to-give

There is a search function at the top of the list on that page. You can type in Growing to Give and it should pop up. Make sure it's the correct garden (location should show Vaughan, ON) because there is another garden in London, ON that is called the Growing Community Greenhouse and Garden, which might confuse some people.

Thank you all! Please share with all of your friends, family and networks! It would be so amazing to have some funds to help rebuild our raised beds and update some other infrastructure and equipment.

Our Gardens for Good grant program helps to support and empower those using organic community gardens to alleviate food security for their families and neighbors and create a positive social impact on the communities in which they are grown.

What a fantastic garden session today! We were all very excited to finally harvest some garlic (don’t worry, there is still half a bed left for other gardeners to harvest next week!). We also harvested some beautiful basil, raspberries, blackcurrants, okra, lambsquarter and echinacea! We w**ded the beds on the east side and watered the entire garden. Check out that pickaxe brought and used by one of our gardeners to tackle the w**ds (and photo of the bed afterwards)! Incredible job everyone!

We’ll be back out at the garden on Friday from 10 am-12 pm, Wednesday 5-7pm and Monday 3-5pm. Hope to see you all there!
