Growing tip!

Pinching plants is a form of pruning that encourages branching on the plant. This means that when you pinch a plant, you are removing the main stem, forcing the plant to grow two new stems from the leaf nodes below the pinch or cut.

Pinch tops of the Tulsi plant when they are forming four or six pairs of leaves, this will make the plant grow fuller. Also remove the flower buds so the plant can focus it's energy on growth rather than reproduction.

Did you know you can root tulsi in water from cuttings?

Cut a 4-6 inch stem from a mature tulsi plant. Select a stem that hasn't flowered yet and remove the stem right below a set of leaves.

Pluck all the other leaves from the bottom portion of your cutting leaving about 2 inches of the stem completely bare.

Fill a glass container with enough water to cover just the bottom half of the stems. Place the stem in the water and be sure to change the water every day so the stems don’t rot from an overgrowth of bacteria.

Put your tulsi plant in a warm, sunny spot such as a windowsill or table that will allow the plant to get at least 8 hours of bright, indirect sunlight daily.
