Cameron Tobin’s journey into the HVAC industry was a natural one, growing up around the trade with his father, Frank, as a mentor. After high school, he pursued his HVAC education at the College of the North Atlantic, setting the foundation for a career that would take him from Newfoundland to Toronto and back home again.

After college, Cameron moved to Toronto, where he joined Daikin, working on large-scale systems for condos and hospitals. His experience there covered everything from chillers and cooling towers to air handling units, make-up air units, and pumps. After three years with Daikin, he transitioned to EA Group, specializing in data centres with a focus on Liebert systems.

With his Red Seal certification in hand, Cameron returned home to Newfoundland, bringing his expertise to a local company before helping establish PMC Energy NL. Since then, he has been a key part of the team, driving energy solutions and building on the company’s strong foundation.

Helping Beyond the Holidays

The need for support doesn’t disappear when the Holidays are over. This past January, we donated 38 kilos of food to Feed Nova Scotia—because people still need help.

We recently received a letter of thanks from Feed NS, but the real reward is knowing that this food will help someone in need. Hunger doesn’t follow a calendar, and the cold months can be especially tough.

If you’re able, consider giving a little extra—whether it’s food, time, or resources. Every bit helps, no matter the season.

After earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology, Ryan Blasco found himself at a crossroads. “Broke and soul-searching,” as he puts it, he headed west to work on drilling rigs—a decision that reshaped his path. There, he discovered a passion for working with tools and machinery, which led him to an HVAC/R apprenticeship at Black & McDonald in Dartmouth in 2005. “I trained under great people and earned my journeyman status,” Ryan recalls. He also met Wayne Boyd, a close friend and future business partner.

In 2010, Ryan and Wayne co-founded Thermostream Inc., an HVAC/R service company in Nova Scotia and Cape Breton. “Running a company taught me so much about business, the industry, and myself,” Ryan reflects. After nine years, Thermostream merged with PMC Energy in 2019, uniting two companies with a shared vision of quality and growth. Ryan has since been instrumental in expanding PMC’s service division and small projects team.

With nearly two decades of HVAC/R experience, a Red Seal Journeyman certification, and Gas Fitter 1 credentials, Ryan continues to excel at PMC Energy. “PMC encourages employee contribution and fosters a safe, supportive environment,” he says. “The team culture here is amazing, and it’s a place where I can grow.” Ryan’s journey is a testament to embracing opportunities and finding your path.

Born in Petawawa, Ontario, Kelli’s family moved to Prince Edward Island early on, where she grew up in the scenic beauty of the island before eventually making Nova Scotia her home in 2005. With over a decade of experience in the HVAC industry, Kelli joined PMC Energy two years ago, taking on the exciting challenge of a sales role.

In this position, Kelli thrives on showcasing the incredible skills of our technicians, helping to deliver dazzling solutions for our clients. A lifelong sports enthusiast, she loves the fast-paced, team-oriented environment of PMC Energy and brings that same zeal to the workplace every day.

Known for her nurturing (and sometimes "nagging" - her words!) personality, Kelli has earned the affectionate nickname “Mom” among coworkers, always ready to lend a hand or ensure things are running smoothly. Outside of work, she is passionate about animal rescue and absolutely obsessed with her rescue dogs.
