A newly built home may look completely sealed, but small construction gaps can still give bats access. Openings around rooflines, vents, soffits, flashing and exterior joints may lead directly into an attic or wall space.

Because bats can enter through very small openings, these vulnerabilities may be difficult to notice from the ground. Read our latest blog to learn how bats enter newer homes and why a professional inspection is important.

A little fall maintenance can help prevent a wildlife problem this winter 🍂🏡

As temperatures drop, mice, squirrels, raccoons and other animals begin looking for food and protected places to shelter.

Now is a good time to:
• Remove food sources from the yard
• Check sheds and garages for gaps
• Look for damage along the roofline
• Inspect the foundation and exterior vents
• Check beneath decks and porches

If you find a possible entry point, make sure nothing is living inside before closing it.

Inspect first. Seal only when the space is clear.

Swipe through our fall checklist, save it for your next yard cleanup and share it with another homeowner! 🦝🐾

Raccoon rabies has returned to Quebec, with active outbreaks identified in Estrie, Montérégie and Centre-du-Québec. Greater Montreal residents should avoid approaching raccoons, skunks or foxes that appear sick, injured, unusually friendly or aggressive.

Keep pets vaccinated, never feed wildlife and report suspicious animals to provincial authorities. Read our latest blog to learn about the outbreak, current control efforts and the precautions residents can take.

A mouse problem in the attic can start all the way down at the foundation. 🐭

During this Minneapolis inspection, Sarah discovered hidden gaps around the home’s cinder block foundation. These openings can give mice access to exterior walls, where they climb insulation and travel into the attic to build nests.

Our team addresses the source by trenching along the foundation, installing heavy-gauge steel screening and sealing vulnerable gaps to create a durable barrier.

Traps may remove individual mice, but exclusion helps stop them from getting back inside. Visit https://www.skedaddlewildlife.com/location/minneapolis/mouse-removal/ to schedule a home assessment.

The spookiest sound this fall might not be part of your Halloween decorations 👻🐭

As temperatures drop, mice, bats, squirrels, raccoons and other wildlife begin looking for warm, protected places to shelter. Small openings around rooflines, vents, foundations and siding can give them a way into your home.

Marcus Mueller, owner of Skedaddle Humane Wildlife Control in Milwaukee and Madison, recently joined a local audio news segment to explain what Wisconsin homeowners can do to help keep unexpected visitors outside this fall.

As we look to the month of October, Halloween and everything that comes with it, it can be a rather spooky time of year, but it doesn't have to be spooky inside your house. Marcus Mueller joins us. The best winter shelter for wildlife isn’t inside your home 🍂🏡

As temperatures drop, animals begin searching for warm, protected spaces. An unsecured roof vent can provide direct access to an attic, where wildlife may damage insulation, wiring and the surrounding structure.

Our technicians install durable screening that helps keep wildlife out while allowing the vent to continue doing its job.

A little prevention helps protect your home and encourages wildlife to find a safer shelter in nature. Contact Skedaddle to prepare your home for the colder months.

Cooler temperatures are arriving, and mouse season is heating up 🐭🍂

As the weather changes, mice begin searching for warm, protected places to shelter. Small gaps around foundations, siding, utility lines and garage doors can provide the access they need to get inside.

Traps may remove individual mice, but they don’t close the openings allowing more to enter. Skedaddle identifies those hidden entry points, removes the mice humanely and protects vulnerable areas against future activity.

Hearing scratching in the walls or finding droppings? Contact Skedaddle before a small mouse problem has time to grow.

Don’t let those little faces fool you. These young squirrels can cause more damage than homeowners might expect! 🐿️

Squirrels remain active throughout the fall and winter, searching for food and protected places to shelter. If they find access to an attic, they may chew wood, insulation and wiring or enlarge existing gaps to make moving in easier.

Because they won’t simply disappear when winter arrives, it’s important to address squirrel activity early. Contact Skedaddle for a humane removal and prevention plan.

Construction can change more than the look of a Montreal neighbourhood. Digging, demolition, and other disturbances may disrupt the places rats use for food and shelter, encouraging them to explore nearby yards and properties. If you have noticed more rodent activity around your neighbourhood, nearby construction could be one contributing factor. Learn what may be driving rats closer to homes and how professional prevention can help protect your property.

Construction activity in Montreal is one of the biggest reasons rat complaints are going up across the city.
