Uprooted.

A short 360° pan that shows so many uprooted trees 🌳 on a familiar trail I hike on. There was a pretty intense storm that hit the region (western Laurentians) a few weeks back, and what is recorded in this short clip shows only a tiny portion of the devastation that occurred in the forest area.

Devastation and Regeneration

After a pretty wicked weather system that brought on some heavy winds and rainfall 10 days ago, a local familiar forest area I hike in was hit hard; hundreds of mature trees were uprooted, leaving the forest floor in a total mess.

Flore Laurentienne - Laurentian Flora. Encountered this weekend. L to R: Bull thistle (Cirsium vulgare), Waxgills (Hygrophoraceae), Common lady fern (Athyrium folic-femina) & Vipers bugloss (Echium vulgare). Flore laurentienne - Flore laurentienne. Observé ce week-end. De gauche à droite : chardon vulgaire (Cirsium vulgare), hygrophores (Hygrophoraceae), fougère femelle commune (Athyrium folic-femina) et vipérine commune (Echium vulgare).

My first hike through a familiar and favorite forest trail, located in the Laurentians, since a significant storm hit the area 7 to 10 days ago. So much damage was caused by the intense winds and micro-burst activity, that uprooted what seems to be hundreds of trees of different ages and species only in the small area that I hiked in. A pretty crazy scene to behold. Ma première randonnée sur un sentier forestier que je connais bien et que j’affectionne particulièrement, situé dans les Laurentides, depuis la violente tempête qui a frappé la région il y a 7 à 10 jours. Les vents violents et les rafales descendantes ont causé d’énormes dommages, déracinant des centaines d’arbres d’âges et d’espèces variés juste sur le petit bout où j’ai randonné. Un spectacle impressionnant.
