April 30, 2016. My wife sent this memory and photos to me, she said she remembers the smell of the butternut canker as I was milling the tree. It was a pretty hot spring day - she and my dad both came out to help.

I milled this large butternut tree with my portable chainsaw mill, cut up 1” boards for the landowners’ pickup truck in trade for the remainder of the wood. Thanks for the heads up on this tree, !

The wood is here still, just waiting for some special projects!

Everything old is new again … … …
The wood for the frame started as a tree in the Outaouais Valley, then was processed into tongue and grove boards for a clients’ ceiling project, the cutoffs were then used to make bed slats and storage chests for our house. Now parts of this white cedar are giving this painting some love ❤️
