It always intrigues me how tulips continue to grow after they’re cut! And seems like certain varieties grow faster. These were all around the same height when I placed them in this vase 2 days ago.

Loving this season! Enjoying each spring bloom as they make their appearance in their own time.

Tulips and daffodils are almost over but bleeding hearts have begun to bloom and the lilacs and crabapple blossoms are beginning to show hints of colour. The deciduous trees have joined in with their vibrant new chartreuse coloured leaves, creating a spectacular landscape in every direction.

So grateful to live in a place with four distinct seasons.

Time for a little update since some of you have been asking. It’s been a good year filled with many new things, changes that aren’t always easy but can teach us and grow us. With being a full time student this past semester, I haven’t been able to start as many seeds as usual. To be honest, I’ve barely had the headspace to even THINK about it much.

I have one more year in this program if all continues to go well and I anticipate it to be busier yet. In light of all that, I’ve made the decision to not sell any flowers these next two growing seasons. The pressure to make sure I have enough for even minimal orders is beyond what I can do right now.

I will still have a garden and grow flowers along with all the other things, but it will be for my own personal enjoyment and nourishment (and my family’s). I’ll update here now and then, but it will be more about sharing beauty, inspirational quotes, and tips on gardening in northwestern Ontario rather than a business account.

Thanks so much for your support 🌷

P.S. There are others growing and selling gorgeous flowers locally! I’d gladly direct you towards them, feel free to ask 🥰

Take heart, friends! There are unseen miracles taking place beneath all that snow 🥰 I can hardly wait to SEE them again.

Last bouquet of 2025 (picked before frost) went out to a friend today. My floral business was limited and not a big priority at all this summer but I am so grateful for the support I received from our community! Thank you ♥️

There’s something about a small bunch of a single- variety of flowers in a jar that I love so much. So grateful I brought these in Tuesday before the heavy frost.

So grateful to send these beauties out the door this week! It’s probably one of the last of this season.

It hasn’t been an amazing garden year for me and I’m quite okay with the cool Fall weather and letting the garden go now.

My pepper plants are short, cucumbers weirdly shaped and didn’t ripen properly, and some flower buds simply didn’t open.

I’ve heard different explanations: inconsistent watering (dry early on, lots of rain later), pollination (but we had lots of bees 🤷🏻‍♀️), and effects of forest fire smoke.

Grateful for the few things that DID thrive and the very few dahlias that actually bloomed. Each one feels extra special. Hoping the tomatoes will ripen on their vines too but I’m not holding my breath!

How about you? I’m especially curious about gardeners in northwestern Ontario. Did you also find your gardens didn’t do as well this year?

This is my first year growing flowering to***co and I think it definitely needs a place in my garden every year! This is the old-fashioned variety. Its flowers open at night and are wonderfully fragrant. If you enjoy sitting outdoors in the evenings/early mornings, these would be a wonderful addition to your garden.

I am loving these colours so much right now! The deep burgundy of the cosmos and orach pairs so well with the light-coloured sunflowers, one of my favourite branching varieties called jade.

Included here: cosmos, orach, sunnies, basil, mint, feverfew, love lies bleeding amaranth.
