Case Study | East Lynn Fertilizer

When East Lynn Fertilizer needed a durable, cost-effective storage solution, they chose a 150' × 260' VP Series structure engineered around their operation.

Located in Hoopeston, Illinois, the building features increased leg height to accommodate an overhead tripper conveyor, a vertical mixer for efficient truck loading, and an integrated office space for on-site monitoring.

Because fertilizer is highly corrosive, the structure was built with hot-dip galvanized steel framing and stainless-steel cables to help resist corrosion and deliver long-term performance.

Every Calhoun building is engineered to meet the unique needs of the customer—and this project is a great example of storage designed for both efficiency and durability.

Project Showcase | DTINB Salt & Sand Storage | Springfield, New Brunswick

When storing materials like salt and sand, durability and visibility inside the building are key to keeping operations running smoothly.

80' × 150' GB Series structure was designed to provide reliable storage protection while creating a bright, functional workspace. Built with 10' steel legs, Keder Panels, and FR fabric, the building was engineered to withstand the demands of a New Brunswick environment, including approximately 150 mph wind speeds and 38 psf snow loads.

One of the biggest benefits of a fabric structure is the natural daylight it provides. The translucent fabric cover allows sunlight to filter throughout the interior, helping improve visibility inside the building and reducing the need for artificial lighting during the day.

MYTH OR FACT?
Myth: Bigger buildings are always harder to install.

Not always.

Because many components are prefabricated before arriving on site, large engineered fabric structures can often be installed much faster than people expect.

It's one of the biggest surprises customers have after seeing a project go from foundation to completed structure in a matter of days or weeks, depending on the project scope.

Sometimes "big" doesn't mean "slow."
