At TPHI, we know inviting contractors into your home is a big deal. That’s why we always try to treat every home with the same care and respect we would our own.
One thing many homeowners don’t realize is just how much happens behind the scenes long before the actual work begins. Once the initial visit is over, it’s time to source the proper materials, compare pricing, coordinate suppliers, and make sure everything needed for the project is lined up properly.
Then comes the office side of things, run by my fabulous wife, who spends countless hours typing up detailed quotes, answering emails and messages, scheduling jobs, organizing paperwork, and keeping everything running smoothly. Even after all that work, there’s still no guarantee we’ll actually get the job — but when we do, the next phase begins.
That means setting start dates, ordering materials, organizing subcontractors, picking up supplies, planning logistics, and making sure every moving part comes together properly. And once the workday at the job site is done, the day usually isn’t over. There’s often more running around for materials, shop work, planning, phone calls, and responding to messages late into the evening.
And of course once we start the job prep work matters. A great paint job or Reno isn’t just about the final coat of paint or that last cabinet, install— it’s the repairs, sanding, caulking, cleaning, levelling and attention to detail beforehand that make the difference between something that looks good for a few months versus something that lasts for years.
We’re also incredibly thankful for the people we work alongside. From electricians Tradescope Electrical and plumbers JPS to our glass/window door guy DreamView Glass, Windows & Doors, our go to landscape company Scenic View Landscaping Inc. also, any of our vehicle interior seats that need repaired, custom bench seat cushions molded and covered for any custom window benches we build ,seats redone the list goes on and on for what Trim Tech Interiors and Glass can do.good subcontractors can make or break a project, and we’re lucky to work with some fantastic tradespeople.
If you’re planning projects this year — even small ones — start making a list now. A lot of homeowners wait until the last minute and end up scrambling when contractors start booking up.
And finally, thank you to everyone who continues to support our small business through referrals, Google/website reviews which are extremely important, likes, comments, and recommendations. It truly means more than people realize.
