Oops — missed these ones!

The yellow goldini zucchini was bred to be tasty at XL size, so this is a good opportunity to test. Meanwhile the other zucchini are one of goldini’s parents in the breeding project. That should bode well for their flavour.

The goldini was also bred for productivity and resisting disease. It is definitely performing well. This zucchini is from my first succession planted mid-June and still going strong 😍

Went to the plot this morning. Came back with the onion and shallot harvest, plus some other vegetables. Went out again this afternoon to run errands. As I’m driving, I look up and notice that I have a praying mantis hitchhiking with me 😳 A bit freaky but also kinda cool. I relocated it to my backyard garden

RED ROBIN DWARF CHERRY TOMATO PATCH

This Red Robin dwarf cherry tomato plant delivers big! It’s about 1’ tall and absolutely loaded with tomatoes. The small orbs deliver good, well-balanced tomato flavour.

We’ve got it in the ground — perfect for an urban garden with limited space — but it would be perfect in a container on a patio or balcony.

Today’s cooler temperatures (and yesterday’s rain) are good for this perimenopausal woman, but even better for the seedlings planted on Monday! 😅 Couldn’t ask for better conditions to help them settle in. What luck!

Good advice. Observation and care now will ensure your patch continues to thrive.

I find that the choice of pic for #1 wasn’t great. That cucumber leaf looks like it has a disease. And if you find heavily wilted, droopy leaves on your cucumber and squash, then it’s likely due to a disease and those leaves should be removed.

A bit of wilting around midday though with a recovery in the evening or after watering (late in the day or morning) means your plants are doing fine.

Post-garlic harvest planting: 3rd succession of zucchini, cucumber and green beans, and fall crops like broccoli, cabbage, kohlrabi, lettuce, beets, rutabaga and even celery for the first time for fall.

Great garlic harvest! Next step: curing so it keeps well all winter
