Simply one of our favourite native flowering plants, Shrubby Penstemon (Penstemon fruticosus) brings beauty, resilience, and life to the Okanagan Valley.
We love bringing this incredible native plant into home gardens — not only for its soft purple blooms, but also for the delicious meals it provides to our native bumblebees (check the photos 🐝).
Creating landscapes that are beautiful, alive, and connected to the local ecosystem.

Merging with nature 🌿
In this project, the goal was to create a wild, flowering yet structured landscape—blending seamlessly with the existing native gully and surrounding environment.
Working with the slope, preserving the character of the land, and selecting drought-tolerant, regionally appropriate plants allows the space to feel like it belongs here… not imposed on it.
This is what regenerative landscaping is about: restoring balance, enhancing beauty, and letting nature lead the design.
This is the final post of our 3-part reel series 🎥

Continuing with this project and techniques:

Slope bioengineering, step by step.

Shaped with machine work, stabilized with natural slab-cut wood, and rebuilt with living soil + organic erosion blanket.

Layered planting—from plugs to 10-gallon trees—plus native grass seeding to bring texture, color, and structure.

Mostly native + plants turning a disturbed steep slope into a stable, resilient landscape.

Restoring a Native Hillside 🌿
First view: from the front of the property.
The first stage of this project began in Fall 2024, using bioengineering techniques and native planting to stabilize the hillside.
Today we’re starting to see the slope root, hold, and grow. We’re still in the process — not the finish line — and looking forward to what 2026 will bring as this hillside continues to establish.
More views of this restoration project will follow soon.
Restoration takes time — but the land responds.

Steep slope. Erosion risk. Challenging terrain.
Instead of fighting the land, we worked with it — shaping contours, rebuilding soil, slowing water, and creating a system designed to grow stronger over time.
This is what regenerative landscaping looks like: practical, resilient, and built for the long term.
🌱 Now booking for the coming season. If you’re planning to stabilize, restore, or transform your outdoor space, this is the time to start the conversation.

Steep slopes don’t need to be fought — they need to be understood.

This project focused on shaping the land to slow water, rebuild soil, and create long-term stability using regenerative landscape methods.

The result is a system that keeps improving over time.

🌱 We’re now booking projects for the upcoming season.
If you’re planning to restore, stabilize, or transform your outdoor space, this is the time to start the conversation.

A year ago, we were challenged to create a style right here in the , using mainly local materials from Naramata and the surrounding area.
Blending those elements with native plants and a few thoughtful compromises has brought us to this point—laying down one of the final in this garden.
