**1:00PM - 1:50 Curtis Jones** / **Polar – Outdoor Photography Reimagined: Creating Story and Building Worlds**
In the late nineteenth and early twentieth-century people were obsessed by the last unmapped areas of the globe. The history of the Polar world is filled with intriguing characters, ambition, and folly. But it is more than the story of men and conquest it is a story of sea, ice, and land. Inspired by the journals and letters of the early explorers as well as my firsthand experience of polar worlds, I have ventured into a new creative project that is rooted in fact, fiction, and fable. Years of living and shooting these regions have afforded me a substantial photo database on which to build my world. Combining icy landscapes, an assembled cast of colourful characters, creative editing and a vivid narrative; I hope to reach back into the past and breathe new life into this daring Polar Age of exploration.
