Closets can be an absolute workhorse and a lot of planning and design goes into them. Here are just a few of things you should consider:

Designed around your habits
• More hanging space if you wear 👗, suits, or jackets
• More shelves if you fold clothes
• 👞 storage that matches how many pairs you own
• Space for bags, accessories, jewelry, or seasonal items

A mix of storage types
• Double hanging rods for shirts and pants
• Long hanging sections for coats or dresses
• Drawers for smaller items
• Adjustable shelves for flexibility

Good visibility
• Proper 💡 matters more than people expect
• Open shelving and clear organization help you see what you own
• Dark corners usually become forgotten storage zones

Uses vertical space
• Floor-to-ceiling storage creates much more usable room
• Higher shelves work well for seasonal bins and less-used items

Easy movement
• Enough walking space so doors, drawers, and people aren't competing for room
• Walk-ins especially need breathing room

Small details make a big difference
• Built-in hamper
• Full-length mirror
• Charging drawer or vanity area
• Hooks for tomorrow’s outfit
• Soft-close drawers

One common design mistake: people overbuild shelves and underbuild hanging space. Hanging areas often disappear faster than expected.

We love mixing up our finishes. Let us know if you prefer painted or natural wood cabinets in your kitchen. Here are a few pros of each to help you decide:

Pros of Painted Cabinets:
• Smooth, clean, modern look
• Huge color options (white, greige, navy, sage, black, etc.)
• Great for contemporary, farmhouse, or transitional kitchens
• Hides natural wood grain for a more uniform finish

Pros of Natural Wood Cabinets:
• Very durable and ages well
• Scratches and dents are often less noticeable because grain hides wear
• Warm, timeless look
• Each cabinet has natural character and variation
• Easier to refinish years later
