Thereā€™s a lot of conflicting info online, but with 30+ years of experience behind us, weā€™ve got some tried-and-true ways to get through the freeze. This isnā€™t a replacement for a proper blowout, but it can keep you safe until you can blow your system out!

ā­ļø Run each line for 1ā€“2 minutes a couple times overnight

ā­ļø Manual valves? Turn them on/off often

ā­ļø Cover exposed manifolds (especially on the north side of the building) with blankets

ā­ļø Contact us at 306-380-1307 to book your blowout on October 14 (our last date available for the season)

7:30 PM on a Friday night and weā€™re still going strong! Getting in as many blowouts as possible before the cold hits. Only ONE date left: October 14. Donā€™t miss your last chanceā€¦ once itā€™s gone, thatā€™s it!

Weā€™re about to dip to -4 and if you havenā€™t had your sprinkler blowout yet, hereā€™s a few tips to survive the freeze!

Automatic System? Run each line for 1 to 2 mins a couple times overnight. This keeps water moving so it wonā€™t freeze.

If your valves are in an underground box, youā€™re probably okay for this first freeze.

Manual valves? Cycle them on/off often. If a line freezes, leave the water on and keep trying in the morning. Moving water + a little sun usually clears ice.

Got a manifold on an outside wall (especially north-facing)? Cover it with blankets for extra protection.

This advice isnā€™t a substitute for a proper blowout, but it might get you through a surprise cold snap without costly damage. Our last available openings for blowouts this season is on October 14. Colder nights are creeping inā€¦ this morning was downright chilly! Weā€™re doing blowouts now, and spots are disappearing fast. Only a few left on October 3, 4 & 14.

Hereā€™s why:

SK regularly gets sub-zero temps well below -30. Any water left in your sprinkler lines will freeze solid.

When water freezes, it expandsā€¦ which can crack pipes, fittings, or valves. Repairs can cost hundreds (sometimes thousands). Have you ever left a can of pop in the freezer? Same idea!

A blowout clears the lines with compressed air, so you start fresh in spring without leaks or costly surprises.

Skipping a blowout in Saskatoon almost guarantees damage. Itā€™s a ā€œpay a little now, or a lot laterā€ situation.
