s. Our Company corporate office is located in the City of Lethbridge, Alberta with its subsidiary office located on the Blood Indian Reserve #148 in the town of Standoff, Alberta, Canada. Our Company was duly incorporated on February 12, 2004 with the Registrar of Corporations via the Alberta Business Corporations Act. Our Company’s BUSINESS NUMBER (BN) has also been authorized/granted by Canada Customs and Revenue Agency which includes Corporate Tax, GST, and Payroll Source Deduction numbers. Our Company is insurable (commercial general liability $5,000,000.00 & builders risk (broad form)) and has its COR Certification from the Alberta Construction Safety Association, Calgary, Alberta. Our Company President & Chief Executive Officer previously has successfully been involved in many major construction projects of varying size, scope, disciplines, complexity, and project delivery models. Those projects were consistently completed on time, within budget, assurance of quality, and has provided many benefits to that First Nation and it’s members. Achievement of major recognition for his many accomplishments (with previous employer) in meeting that First Nations’ Goals and Objectives such as:
1. Being involved in or undertaking 19 major construction projects worth over $66.775 million dollars since April 1, 1997 to February 4, 2004.
2. Employing over 400 First Nations’ members on various construction projects;
3. Awarded over $2.5 million dollars in sub-contracts to First Nations’ members in the fiscal year 2002/2003 and 2003/2004;
4. Paid over $3.75 million dollars in First Nations’ employee payroll over the last 4 years;
5. Provided First Nations’ members with an average of 90% of total working hours in 2003 and a 4 year average of 72.4%;
6. Awarded the “Year 2000 Award of Excellence” from the Consulting Engineers of Alberta for his participation in the St. Mary’s Dam Spillway Replacement Project;
NOTE: The award was in the “Project Partnering” category and was presented at the Consulting Engineers of Alberta Showcase Awards 2001 banquet in Calgary on January 27, 2001. The project was submitted to CEA in October 2000 for consideration by a panel of judges chosen by CEA from esteemed members of Client Groups, Professional Associations and Universities. Judging criteria involved Innovation, Added Value, Advancement of Technology, Degree of Difficulty, Management of Risk and Benefit to Society.
“To provide you with some perspective on the significance of this prestigious award, CEA received numerous submissions in seven categories for significant projects worldwide. From all submissions, the judges only selected four to receive the Award of Excellence.”
The partnering approach that was used for the St. Mary’s Dam Spillway Replacement Project successfully built trust and teamwork among all participants and stakeholders, enabling the maintenance of open communication and to work collaboratively through the many challenges of the construction phase. The high degree of dedication and commitment demonstrated by everyone resulted in a very successful project that has been recognized and honored by this award.
7. Awarded the “Eagle Feather Business Award of Distinction” in 2002 from the Alberta Chambers of Commerce;
NOTE: The prestigious “Eagle Feather Business Award of Distinction” is given to a First Nations-owned business that demonstrates outstanding achievement in business and has incorporated entrepreneurial and cultural concepts into its operations for long term success. The award was sponsored by Indian & Northern Affairs Canada and was presented by The Honorable Robert Nault, Minister of Indian & Northern Affairs Canada, in Calgary on February 28, 2002 during the annual Alberta Business Awards of Distinction 2002 Gala Event held at the Telus Convention Center.
8. Provided continuous support for many community & charitable activities through worthwhile donations in the amount of $150 thousand dollars. Our Company listens to the voices of our “Native Elders” and through their prayers and guidance continues to inspire us to try our best each and every day.
