Another project wrapped up near Carlyle, Saskatchewan, close to the eastern border. 🍂

We originally planned to stain and c***k this home, but with colder weather approaching, the homeowners chose to prioritize sealing it up for winter. After three drafty winters, they were ready for a warmer, more comfortable home.

We Osborn brushed each log line to remove the failing stain and give the c***king a clean surface to bond to. Then we installed backer rod, applied a clean 1-inch bead of Sashco Log Homes Log Jam. 🏠

The staining can wait for warmer weather. For now, this home is sealed up and ready for winter! ❄️

We recently had the opportunity to bring this late 60s cabin back to life at Duck Mountain Provincial Park in Manitoba.

After removing the old, worn semi-solid stain, we uncovered traces of the reddish cambium layer beneath the bark. This natural detail was often left on logs in cabins built back in the day, giving each one its own character. The homeowners loved the look, so we made sure that character remained part of the finished result.

Our restoration process included:

• Media blasting to remove the old finish
• Osborn brushing
• Borate treatment
• One coat of Colorfast
• Two coats of Sashco Capture in Hazelnut
• Sashco Cascade clear coat
• Caulking the corners and checks

The cabin has a fresh new finish while keeping the unique character that makes it special. 🪵✨

We love getting texts like this, especially when the homeowner doesn’t see the cabin until the work is complete! 🏡📸 Pictures to follow!

I may get a lot of the credit as the owner, but I’m lucky to have a great crew that takes just as much pride in the work and holds the same high standards. 👏💪

Another one wrapped up last week! 🪵🏡

After restoring the front two sides of this beautiful log home last year, we returned to complete the remaining two sides!

We took the logs right back down to bare wood, followed by Osborn brushing to achieve a nice, smooth finish. From there, we applied a borate treatment, one coat of Sashco ColorFast, two coats of Capture in Hazelnut, and finished it all off with a protective clear coat of Cascade.

We also refinished some of the trim and other areas using Sansin SDF to give the home a fresh, modern look while keeping its natural log home character!

It's always great returning to a previous project and seeing the entire home come together!

We wrapped up our Jasper project just before the long weekend! 🏔️

We do a lot of winter work in Jasper, so getting to spend some time working in the mountains during the summer was a nice change!

In just over three weeks, we completed the interiors of four cabins, including Osborn brushing, three coats of stain with hand sanding in between coats, and finishing it all off with c***king!

It was a big undertaking, but we’re incredibly proud of what our crew accomplished and grateful to have been part of the rebuild at Alpine Village!

If you’re planning a trip to Jasper, be sure to check out Alpine Village. It’s a beautiful resort in an awesome location!

Week 2 at Alpine Village in Jasper! Not a bad spot to call work for a few weeks.

Over the last two weeks, we’ve Osborn brushed the interiors of three cabins and applied three coats of stain, hand sanding between each coat. We’ve also started Osborn brushing a fourth cabin and have begun applying the c***king.

We’re definitely keeping busy, but it’s hard to complain when this is the view from the jobsite!

🏡 Check out this beautiful Pioneer Log Homes post and beam home!

This home had been sitting for quite some time and had developed a lot of greying. To bring it back to life, we Osborn brushed the entire interior and exterior. This removed the weathered fibres, brightened the wood, enhanced the natural grain, and left it with a smooth finish ready for stain.

We then applied two coats of Sashco Log Homes Capture in Hazelnut, followed by a matte clear coat to give the home a warm, natural finish. ✨

Inside, we applied one coat of Hazelnut followed by two coats of Sashco’s Symphony. We also surprised the homeowners by painting the bear claws black, which really makes the craftsmanship from Pioneer Log Homes stand out. 🐻

To finish the project, we applied two coats of Sansin Floor to the stair treads for a durable, long-lasting finish.

What a beautiful home! We can’t wait to see it once construction is complete. We’ll be sure to share updated photos when it’s finished! 📸

We were able to get a quick turnaround on this beautiful log home and garage! 🏡✨

We started by media blasting the logs, followed by Osborn brushing to properly prepare the wood. We then applied our Rocky Ridge 5 coat system, starting with a borate treatment, followed by one coat of Sashco Colorfast, two coats of Sashco Capture in Red Cedar, and one coat of Sashco Cascade clear coat. 🪵🛠️

We finished the project by staining the deck, bringing everything together and giving the entire home a fresh new look! 🤩
