This renovation is an exercise in architectural dialogue. Working in collaboration with , we approached the site not as a blank slate, but as a living history to be edited and refined.

The design is a strategic layering of modern clarity onto established craft. By honouring the existing vernacular while introducing a new, legible program, we allow the home to evolve while maintaining its integrity. It is a shared effort in adaptive reuse—finding a resonant, contemporary life for a home with history.

The character of a room is found in the pieces we collect. The personal touches reveal a story, and against a backdrop of a quiet, grounded architecture, we allow a house to become a home - shifting the focus from the structure itself to the life lived within it.

Clarity can be found when built work is examined outside the constraints of the studio. We are so grateful to have our work featured in the recently published Toronto Interiors book, documenting a moment in time for our practice—specifically, the integrity of the selected materials, the necessary rigour of the thinking, and the quiet intention that informs every detail.

Flipping through these pages provides a new perspective on the foundation of the work, simultaneously confirming the principles that ground the practice and a clear direction for what comes next.

This cottage is designed to harmonize with the Muskoka landscape — adapting gracefully through every season. Its architecture, defined by clean lines and natural materials, mirrors the surrounding colours, crafting a retreat that is both serene and enduring.

New structure introduced as part of the renovation is revealed—subtly telling the story of the building through small details throughout the home. Here, a steel column is celebrated rather than concealed: painted and ex- posed in the ground floor powder room.
