LGA ARCHITECTURAL PARTNERS //
LGA is an award-winning architecture firm with a diversified portfolio. We have been providing architectural services since 1989 and have a current team of 35 architects and designers. Our comprehensive consulting work in public and institutional sectors has proven our ability to find consensus while designing excellent buildings. OUR DESIGNS CELEBRATE THE MANY WAYS T

O LIVE AND WORK //
The challenges unique to each project are an opportunity to innovate, to be inspired and to demonstrate how good design improves people's lives. We have extensive experience in talking to diverse client groups about their needs and a history of making architecture a rewarding and fulfilling experience. WE NEVER LOSE SIGHT OF CONTEXT//
We know that buildings are part of a bigger picture — socially, environmentally and culturally — and aim to make each design progressive, sensitive and relevant. We use energy- and cost-efficient materials in inventive ways for results that are both design oriented and sustainable. Regardless of the size or type of project, our approach is always technically, aesthetically and economically well informed. COLLABORATION IS FUNDAMENTAL TO OUR PROCESS //
We feel it is essential to generate ideas and work through problems together — in our studio, with our engineers, contractors and, most importantly, with our clients. It is a priority for us to establish and maintain good communication with everyone involved. Accountability, maintaining budgets and attention to detail are ensured by the continuous hands-on involvement of the partners for the duration of any project.

✨ “Anduhyaun shows strong social impact and cultural sensitivity, with materials used creatively to support healing and express its story.”

– George Takla, Senior Manager of Interior Design, Dubai Holding

We’re proud to share that Anduhyaun Women’s Shelter has won Institutional Healthcare Centre of the Year at the Frame Awards 2025.

🏡 Anduhyaun (meaning “Our Home” in Ojibwe) was purpose-built in close collaboration with the organization’s leaders to welcome (predominantly Indigenous) women fleeing violence through a design rooted in connection and care.

🏡 Big news! Today, the federal government, led by Hon. Gregor Robertson, Minister of and Infrastructure, has released the full Housing Design Catalogue, featuring 50 standardized housing designs — from rowhouses to fourplexes and accessory units.

LGA Architectural Partners led the development, coordinating architects across all 7 regions, with Ontario designs by LGA and B.C. designs by Green Architects.

These ready-to-use designs reduce time, cost, and red tape, making it easier to add gentle density in existing neighbourhoods, support wood-frame construction, and create local jobs. The catalogue includes architectural & engineering drawings, energy reports, climate resiliency guidance, and more.

We are proud to have played a central role in bringing this national initiative to life, helping communities across Canada build more homes, faster and smarter. 🌱🏘️

Jury Comment(s):
This meticulous study of single exit stair building code reform presents a transformative approach to addressing Canada’s housing challenges. Through richly documented research and elegant visual presentation, the project demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of current barriers to housing supply. Working at the system level, this initiative promises far-reaching impacts on missing middle housing morphology across Canada. The thorough analysis and detailed solutions position this work to meaningfully influence future building codes.

🏆 We’re honoured to receive the Research and Innovation in Architecture Award for our Single Exit Stair research!

What began as Conrad Speckert's McGill thesis, has grown into a national movement—advocating for smarter, more flexible building codes to unlock missing middle housing across Canada.

Through design prototypes, national collaboration, and widespread policy impact—including BC’s 2024 code update—we’re proving that single-stair buildings can be just as safe, while making housing more affordable, accessible, and sustainable. Pictured above is LGA's pilot project, featuring a 3-storey small apartment building proposed to be constructed with a single exit stair and an elevator opening into the exit. The building contains a total of 10 dwelling units and 25 bedrooms.
