Your ceiling’s main purpose is to keep you protected from the elements, temperatures, debris, and the outside in general. A ceiling is also meant to hide our attics and insulation and be aesthetically pleasing. We don’t typically give our ceilings too much thought, but once our ceilings start to show signs of damage, we need to act quickly to keep our homes protected!

If you notice different discoloration on your ceilings, this could be due to several different issues. It does not matter what color or shape – if you notice ceiling spots, it’s time to consider that there may be a problem.

1. Cracks and spidering have started to appear.
Ceiling cracks can form on your ceiling in either spiderweb patterns or straight lines. Cracks are a red flag that ceiling problems could get worse quickly.

2. Bowed or sagging ceilings.
Ceilings are typically level and straight. When ceiling damage is close at hand, ceilings can buckle, bow and sag under pressure.

3. Paint starts to chip and peel.
Just like walls, paint will stay on ceilings for many years. If you notice peeling paint, paint flakes on your floor, or cracking paint, it could be caused by hidden ceiling damage.

4. Unfortunate accidents.
Sometimes accidents just happen! They can happen in our kitchen or other rooms in the house. This could result in food, paint or other substances staining the ceiling.

Horizon Restoration & Renovation Inc. is a restoration and general contracting company. We offer restoration services due to fire, water, and other property damage as well as renovation services.

We are looking for trades people who take pride in the quality of their work, are hardworking with a can-do attitude, have a willingness to learn and grow and conduct themselves with a high degree of honesty and integrity. The ideal candidate will be proficient in multiple trades functions such as carpentry work, drywall, taping, painting, etc.

Required Education:

Highschool or equivalent

Experience:

Minimum 7 years in residential, commercial construction/renovations.

Responsibilities

· Perform all types of construction duties on the company’s projects, as assigned, including rough carpentry, finished carpentry and basic cabinetry

· Drywall, plastering, and finishing

· Interior painting

· Ceiling texturing experience is considered and asset

· Structural reconstruction

· Installation of fixtures such as vanities, and cabinetry

· Installation of lighting

· Installation and reparation of windows and doors

· Removal and installation of various types of flooring

· Construction of structures for decks, fences, and garages

Skills and Other Attributes:

· Have a ‘jack of all trades’ attitude and be willing to pitch in on other areas of the job

· A positive, can-do attitude and are passionate about you work

· An open mind to change and coaching and a commitment to always learning new and/or better ways to do things

· A wide knowledge of your primary trade

· Compassion and care and a customer service personality

· A safety mindset as we deal with mould, asbestos, and Covid

· Knowledge of building codes and regulations

· Knowledge of job site safety rules and regulations (Occupational Health and Safety)

· Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in carpentry

NOTE:

· You must own your own tools and safety clothing, including steel-toed boots. Large equipment will be provided.

· You MUST be able to pass both a criminal record check
