Walking through this home, you quickly realize the pantry does far more than store groceries. Positioned between the mudroom, kitchen, and outdoor living area, it became one of the hardest-working spaces in the home.

Designed around our client’s love of cooking and entertaining, it features a full-size fridge and freezer, a dishwasher, a prep sink, and enough counter space to keep the main kitchen clear while preparing meals for family and friends. Open shelving was incorporated to showcase her prized cookbook collection, while the built-in desk creates a dedicated spot for menu planning, recipe inspiration, and weekly grocery lists.

It’s a great example of how the most functional spaces can also be some of the most beautiful.

This home started long before the first sketch.

We worked with this family for over a year, waiting for the right piece of land to come along in Calgary’s Elbow Park. They knew exactly how they wanted their home to feel. Elegant yet inviting. A place where family could gather, where their incredible art collection could be celebrated, and where every space felt thoughtfully considered.

When the perfect lot became available, the magic started.

From the sweeping staircase that welcomes you in to the formal living spaces designed for conversation and connection, this home pushed us creatively in the very best way. It challenged us to do something different while staying true to what matters most, creating a home that reflects the people who live there.

Over the next week, we’ll be taking you room by room through this beautifully elegant home.

Stepping into this kitchen, your eye is pulled straight through to the great room and out to the surrounding views. Oversized black-framed windows flood the space with natural light and keep everything feeling connected to the outdoors, while the rift-cut white oak cabinetry with a custom stain brings in so much warmth and depth.

The oversized island, with seating on two sides, was designed for gathering. Morning coffee, kids doing homework, lingering conversations over wine, this is the kind of kitchen that naturally brings people together. Finished with marble wrapping the range wall and details that feel timeless, it is one of those spaces that look beautiful from every angle and live just as well as they photograph.

Stepping into this great room, it is easy to see why it became the heart of the home. Wrapped in windows on three sides and anchored by a natural stone fireplace stretching all the way to the 16-foot vaulted ceiling, this space feels connected to everything around it. Open to the kitchen and informal dining, it was designed for gathering, slow mornings, busy evenings, and all of the moments in between. The kind of room a family naturally finds themselves coming back to.

The utility spaces in this custom home work incredibly hard, but that doesn’t mean they have to feel overly practical or forgotten.

First up is the mudroom, designed to handle the day-to-day for a busy family while still feeling beautiful. A generously built-in bench for pulling on shoes, a key drop right at the entry, custom storage for every family member, and plenty of concealed cabinetry to keep the clutter out of sight. The darker slate chevron flooring grounds the space, while the wallpaper and lighting make it feel like a room you actually want to walk into.

Keep swiping, and you’ll spot one of our favourite little details, the custom puppy pocket door tucked into the millwork for the furry family members.

Then onto the pantry spaces. One is designed for everyday food storage and organization; the other is more for entertaining, prep, and keeping the kitchen feeling calm when guests are over, every inch designed to make daily life easier, while still feeling elevated.

A laundry room that proves utility spaces deserve just as much attention & beauty. Hidden behind custom French doors are two sets of washers and dryers, layers of storage, pull-out drying racks, marble counters and flooring, and room to keep the everyday moving without taking over the rest of the home. Functional, yes, but still beautiful enough that you don’t mind spending time in it. Mission accomplished if you ask us!

Every bathroom in this custom home was designed to feel unique, while still flowing together as part of one story.

On the main floor, the formal powder room leans dark and dramatic with rich walnut cabinetry, marble, and moody walls. The second powder room, located off the outdoor living space and swim spa, takes a more playful direction with wave-inspired wallpaper that subtly nods to its connection to the water.

The ensuite was designed to feel less like a bathroom and more like a private retreat, soft, bright, and an extension of the bedroom itself. Upstairs, each secondary bathroom was tailored to who would use it, one for a teenage boy and two for tween girls, all designed around personality, function, and how they’d live in the space.

Then downstairs, we shifted the mood again with a darker lower-level bath wrapped in black slate for a completely different feel.

Set on six private acres in Bearspaw, this home was designed around one very specific request from our clients: when they walked through the front door, they wanted the view to stop them in their tracks.

Framed by the custom arched entry door, your eye is pulled straight through to the soaring wall of windows and the nature beyond. No competing sightlines, no distraction, just light, trees, and the feeling of being completely connected to the property surrounding the home. From the exterior architecture to that first moment inside, every decision was made to make this home feel grounded in its surroundings.

This kitchen went all in on mood, and our clients were fully on board. Black cabinetry, black ceilings, and layered lighting create so much depth, while the extensive plaster detailing around the range gives the entire wall presence without feeling overly formal.

The custom Lacanche range became a statement piece from day one. Still, it’s the details that pull everything together, the warm glow through the woven pendants, the bronze-toned slab wrapping the island front and backsplash, and the lighting detail that makes those materials come alive. Dark, dramatic, and one of those kitchens that feels even better in person.

Bathrooms are one of those spaces where we love to push the design a little further, and this home certainly did not play it safe.

The ensuite is dark, moody, and dramatic in all the right ways. Black walls and ceilings, warm walnut cabinetry, plaster detailing behind the tub, and lighting that completely changes the mood from day to night.

The main bathroom carries that same feeling through with walnut cabinetry, black walls, and brick tile wrapping the tub for a layered look that feels rich without trying too hard.

Then there’s the powder room. Full of personality and driven by our client’s incredible taste, right down to the wallpaper, stone, and statement sink. A tiny space that completely steals the show.

And downstairs, the basement bath ties everything together. Cohesive with the rest of the home, but still with its own personality, because every space matters.
