Phase 2: A stair system from the home, up the vertical rock wall, to a flat platform above. The owner’s turning that platform into an at-home retreat. Spa amenities, treehouse office, living space.

Phase 3: Demo the existing home and build new. Car turntable, solar efficiency, curtain wall windows.
Three phases, one hell of a property. Follow along, we’re posting the whole build.

Always a great feeling when WorkSafeBC pays your site a surprise visit and, at the end of the inspection, the safety officer is very pleased with the condition of the site and leaves with zero deficiency orders issued.

That is the definition of a well run job site.

Water retention tank:

This is a new City of Vancouver requirement for new developments. The purpose of this HUGE tank is to reduce the immediate demand on the city drainage system during heavy rainfall. This tank will service both the main home and laneway home hence the large size. Once the tank reaches capacity, it slowly releases the collected rainwater at a controlled rate instead of allowing a large volume to discharge all at once.
