Elton on site, excited to share this one 🏔️
We’re up in Port Moody putting in a timber frame roof system, and we just finished loading up the big beams: 22-footers, 6x14” solid Douglas fir. Heavy, beautiful stuff.

Right now we’re finishing up the two king post trusses, hand-cut and built right on site by our master carpenter Andreas Cokel. They’ve been craned into place and we’re getting ready to fasten everything together before moving on to the rafters.

If you look closely at the ridge beam, you’ll see the pockets we cut to inset the rafters — that locks them in place and helps prevent twist and warping over time. Since this structure will stay exposed, that kind of detail is what keeps it looking as good in 10 years as it does today.

Nisha put her designer hat back on for this one — walking us through the Kitsilano home she designed for three generations, from the kitchen island built for baking and crafting to the primary ensuite this family never had before.

“I’m feeling very proud of the space. It’s really quite lovely, and I’m happy to share it with you,” Nisha says in the video.

For this walkthrough, Nisha traded her Project Consultant hat for her old designer one — taking us through the Kitsilano home she designed, room by room, in her own words.

Her favorite detail: keeping every line of the kitchen millwork straight and aligned, so the space feels like it's always belonged to the house.

"Something that's really important to me as a designer is making it feel like it's not been renovated," Nisha shares in the video.

When this Kitsilano family decided to renovate rather than sell in Vancouver’s market, they saw a different opportunity: a home that could work for everyone. The parents downsized into a bright, legal basement suite.

Their daughter’s family — husband, three kids — took over the main floor above. Independent homes, connected by a single staircase.
