A good view is not enough to make an outdoor area truly work.

On the aft deck of M/Y Silent World, we wanted to create a place where guests would want to stay, not simply pass through. We redesigned the table, introduced lighter and more comfortable chairs, and softened the entire area with neutral textiles.

The new stone-look tabletop brought a more contemporary feel, but its shape also had to respond to the proportions of the deck, guest circulation, and the way the space is used during meals.

On a yacht, the quality of design is not measured only by how the table looks when it is set, but also by how comfortable it feels to spend several hours around it.

Dobar pogled nije dovoljan da bi se spoljašnji prostor zaista koristio.

Na krmenoj palubi jahte Silent World želeli smo da napravimo mesto na kome će gosti rado ostajati, ne samo prostor kroz koji prolaze. Zato smo redizajnirali sto, uveli svetlije i udobnije stolice i omekšali celu zonu neutralnim tekstilima.

Nova ploča sa teksturom kamena unela je savremeniji izraz, ali je oblik stola morao da prati proporcije palube, kretanje gostiju i način na koji se prostor koristi tokom obroka.

Na jahti se kvalitet dizajna ne meri samo izgledom kada je sto postavljen, već i time koliko je prijatno provesti nekoliko sati oko njega.

Open-plan living is not simply about removing walls and combining several functions into one large space.

Here, it was important for the living room, dining area, and kitchen to feel visually connected, while each zone still had a clear role. The dining table is present enough to define its area, but it does not interrupt the view or reduce the sense of openness, while the lighting adds another layer of hierarchy between the different zones.

When an open-plan space is well designed, you do not think about where one area ends and another begins. Everything simply works together.

Otvoren plan ne znači samo ukloniti pregrade i spojiti nekoliko funkcija u jednu veliku prostoriju.

Ovde je bilo važno da dnevna soba, trpezarija i kuhinja budu vizuelno povezane, ali da svaka zona ipak ima svoju jasnu ulogu. Trpezarijski sto je dovoljno prisutan da definiše prostor, ali ne prekida pogled niti umanjuje osećaj širine, dok svetlo dodatno pravi hijerarhiju između zona.

Kada je open-plan prostor dobro projektovan, ne razmišljate gde jedna zona prestaje, a druga počinje. Jednostavno sve funkcioniše zajedno.

The layout of the foredeck already existed, but the space did not offer the level of comfort and atmosphere the new owners wanted.

We kept the basic arrangement and changed the elements that directly shape the guest experience: the tables, upholstery, cushions, colour palette, and sun protection. The lighter palette and softer textiles made the space more inviting, while the new tables allow for more flexible use throughout the day.

Outdoor decks are not simply an extension of the interior. During the season, they often become the main living areas on board, so they deserve the same level of attention as the salon or master cabin.

Na pramčanoj palubi raspored je već postojao, ali prostor nije pružao nivo udobnosti i atmosfere koji su novi vlasnici želeli.

Zadržali smo osnovnu organizaciju, a promenili elemente koji neposredno utiču na iskustvo gostiju: stolove, tapaciranje, jastuke, boje i zaštitu od sunca.

Svetlija paleta i mekši tekstili učinili su prostor prijatnijim, dok novi stolovi omogućavaju fleksibilnije korišćenje tokom dana.

Spoljašnje palube nisu samo dodatak enterijeru. Tokom sezone često postaju glavni životni prostor jahte, pa zaslužuju istu pažnju kao salon ili master kabina.

I have always believed that a good refit does not begin with the question: What can we replace?

It begins with a much more interesting one:
What is worth preserving and enhancing?

Some yachts already have beautifully crafted elements, strong proportions and details that carry part of their identity.

Our role as designers is not to erase all of that in the name of something new.

It is to recognise the hidden potential, remove what no longer works and create a new layer that feels relevant, personal and refined.

Because true luxury is not always about having more.

Often, it is about seeing more clearly what was valuable all along.

Ponekad je najluksuzniji izbor sačuvati ono što već ima vrednost.

Oduvek sam verovala da dobar refit ne počinje pitanjem:

Šta možemo da zamenimo?

Već mnogo zanimljivijim pitanjem:

Šta vredi sačuvati i dodatno istaći?

Neke jahte već imaju izuzetno izrađene elemente, dobre proporcije i detalje koji nose deo njihovog identiteta.

Naš posao kao dizajnera nije da sve to izbrišemo u ime nečeg novog.

Umesto toga, cilj nam je da prepoznamo skriveni potencijal, uklonimo ono što više ne funkcioniše i dodamo novi sloj koji deluje savremeno, lično i prefinjeno.

Jer pravi luksuz nije uvek u tome da imamo više. Često je u tome da jasnije vidimo vrednost koja je već bila tu.

It is not only the big elements that determine how a space will be experienced. Very often, it is the quiet, understated details that make an interior feel complete.

In a bedroom, where our goal was to create a calming atmosphere, details like this also have their role. Not to attract attention, but to support the mood through natural materials, calm tones, and simple forms.

When such details are chosen carefully, the space feels complete and pleasant for real everyday life.

Nisu samo veliki elementi ti koji određuju kako će prostor biti doživljen. Vrlo često upravo tihi, nenametljivi detalji čine enterijer celovitim.

U spavaćoj sobi, gde nam je cilj bio da prostor smiruje, i ovakvi elementi imaju svoju ulogu. Ne da privlače pažnju, već da podrže atmosferu kroz prirodne materijale, mirne tonove i jednostavne forme.

Before the renovation, the combination of different colours and materials created too many visual interruptions.

By introducing new sofas, a lighter carpet, neutral textiles, new curtains, and simpler coffee tables, we reduced the contrasts and connected the space into a calmer, more cohesive whole.

The goal was not to remove the salon’s character, but to give each element a clearer place and make the interior feel like one considered composition rather than a collection of separate decisions.

Pre renoviranja, kombinacija različitih boja i materijala stvarala je mnogo vizuelnih prekida.

Novim sofama, svetlijim tepihom, neutralnim tekstilima, zavesama i jednostavnijim stolovima smanjili smo kontraste i povezali prostor u mirniju celinu.

Cilj nije bio da salon ostane bez karaktera, već da svaki element dobije jasnije mesto i da enterijer više ne deluje kao zbir odvojenih odluka.

Every refit has two stories.

The first is the one everyone sees.

The finished interior.
Beautiful materials.
Carefully chosen colours.
Perfectly styled spaces.

The second story happens behind the scenes.

It is written through hundreds of decisions, technical drawings, measurements, production meetings, logistics, installations and countless small adjustments.

By the time the guest steps on board, all of that should be invisible.

Because a successful refit isn't defined only by how it looks in the end. It's also defined by how smoothly the entire process came together.

Svaki refit ima dve priče.

Jednu priču svi vide.

Gotov enterijer.
Lepo uklopljeni materijali.
Pažljivo odabrane boje.
Prostor koji je skladan i udoban.

Druga priča odvija se iza kulisa.

Nju čine stotine odluka, tehnička dokumentacija, merenja, koordinacija proizvodnje, logistika, montaža i bezbroj sitnih usklađivanja.

Kada gost zakorači na jahtu, sve to trebalo bi da bude neprimetno.

Uspešan refit ne meri se samo time kako izgleda na kraju, već i time koliko je ceo proces protekao glatko, prema planu i sa što manje nepredviđenih problema.

A sense of calm in a space does not happen by accident. It is built through a series of small decisions that may not demand attention individually, but together make a huge difference.

In this interior, that comes from the relationship between different textures, the transition between wood, fabric, and rug, the softness of the rounded forms, and the way light falls across the surfaces. None of these elements is dominant, but each of them plays a role in making the space feel calm, pleasant, and easy to live in.

That is exactly why interiors like this often seem simple only at first glance. When a space is meant to calm you, every detail has to be carefully measured.

Osećaj mira u prostoru ne nastaje slučajno. On se gradi kroz niz malih odluka koje pojedinačno možda ne traže pažnju, ali zajedno prave ogromnu razliku.

U ovom enterijeru to su odnos različitih tekstura, prelaz između drveta, tkanine i tepiha, mekoća zaobljenih formi i način na koji svetlo pada na površine. Nijedan od tih elemenata nije nametljiv, ali svaki učestvuje u tome da prostor deluje smireno, prijatno i lako za boravak.

Upravo zato ovakvi enterijeri često deluju jednostavno samo na prvi pogled. Kada prostor treba da umiri, svaki detalj mora da bude pažljivo odmeren.

The master cabin should be the part of the yacht where the owner can truly retreat and rest.

That is why we changed the elements that have the greatest impact on how the space feels: the curtains, carpet, bedding, decorative textiles, artwork, and finishing details. The new palette is lighter and calmer, giving the cabin a greater sense of order, softness, and visual space.

The result is not only a more contemporary look, but also a much more pleasant atmosphere for everyday life on board.

Master kabina treba da bude deo jahte u kojem vlasnik zaista može da se povuče i odmori.

Zato smo ovde promenili sve ono što neposredno utiče na osećaj u prostoru: zavese, tepih, posteljinu, dekorativne tekstile, umetnička dela i detalje. Nova paleta je svetlija i mirnija, pa je kabina dobila više reda, mekoće i vizuelnog prostora.

Rezultat nije samo savremeniji izgled, već i mnogo prijatnija atmosfera za svakodnevni boravak na brodu.

It may seem too early to think about a refit while the season is still in full swing.

But this is exactly when the planning begins for projects that are completed on time, stay within budget, and avoid unnecessary surprises.

While guests are enjoying the yacht and the crew is making sure everything runs smoothly, it becomes much easier to spot what works well, what makes everyday life on board more difficult, and what should be improved before the next season.

Those observations are incredibly valuable.

By the time the Mediterranean season comes to an end, the most important decisions should already have been made.

Winter is for ex*****on, not for figuring out where to start.

The best refit projects don't begin in October. They begin during the season.

Možda deluje rano da se razmišlja o refitu dok je sezona još traje.

Ali upravo sada počinje planiranje projekata koji će na kraju biti realizovani na vreme, u okviru budžeta i sa mnogo manje nepredviđenih problema.

Dok gosti uživaju na jahti, a posada brine da sve funkcioniše besprekorno, najlakše se uočavaju stvari koje dobro funkcionišu, one koje otežavaju svakodnevni život na brodu i one koje bi trebalo unaprediti za sledeću sezonu.

Upravo te informacije su najvrednije.

Do trenutka kada se sezona na Mediteranu završi, najvažnije odluke već bi trebalo da budu donete.

Zima tada služi za realizaciju, a ne za razmišljanje odakle početi.

Najbolji refit projekti ne počinju u oktobru.
Oni počinju tokom sezone.
