The new OKITA Soundbowl turned out so nicely!

Double P90s for that extra lovely sound. Wraparound bridge for that clean look. Specially designed resonance chamber for a little sweetening of the frequency response.

Hope you like it! If you want to see it in person and play it, you get your chance at Guitar Summit in Mannheim next month✌🏻

Another one of the updated OKITA Soundbowl models. This time finished with a very light blue linseed oil paint.

The Classic pickups combined with the specially designed sound cavity and the dark roasted maple neck give it an amazing sound. Soft and round yet it always remains clear, percussive and precise.

Would you rock this one?

I think one of the most important design elements on an electric guitar is the headstock. Nowadays even more than maybe 40 years ago.

I combined several classic elements with some elements taken from the Asanoha pattern to create a unique headstock design for my STS Guitars.

What is the perfect headstock design for you?

Adding to the overall identity of my guitars, I generally base all my fretboard inlays on hexagons, which is the surrounding shape of a single Asanoha pattern element.

Over the years, a lot of different variants came to life!

A lot is different with this updated OKITA Soundbowl featuring two P90 pickups and dark roasted maple neck and fretboard.

The body finish is linseed oil paint in cotton candy. A solid color alternative to the bookmatched tops and Asanoha patterns I usually offer for my builds.

I‘m in love with the overall aestetics, especially the contrast of the body and neck as well as the updated f-hole design.

Let me know if I‘m on to something here or should go back to making mosaic tops 😆✌🏻

The OKITA was the second guitar model I designed and turned out to be my most successful one. It‘s my own take on an offset guitar and had to be completely different than my TOMO model, not only in it‘s outlines and contour, but in it‘s very basic specs.

It‘s basic features are
640mm scale length,
22 stainless steel frets,
a thinner body than usual,
natural oil based finishes,

Also available as a semihollow / thinline version called OKITA Soundbowl which has a unique sound chamber and sound holes.

The OKITA definitely had the craziest custom spec’d versions of my guitars.

How would you spec an OKITA?
Would you prefer it‘s basic specs over the TOMO?

The TOMO was the first guitar model I designed and built. It was also the baseline for the overall brand identity, establishing some of the design details common to all my guitar models.

It‘s basic features are
650mm scale length,
24 stainless steel frets,
a thinner body than usual,
natural oil based finishes

Many differently spec’d versions came to life since then and here‘s a good mix showcasing the endless possibilities.

I’m curious - how would you spec a TOMO? Let me know in the comments!

Detail shots of the latest TOMO with an Asanoha pickguard, featuring the new black Lockmeister and a stunning roasted maple neck plus fretboard.

There are no fretboard inlays except some very special side dots that are glow in the dark with an abalone ring. That way they remain visible in all lighting situations and turned out quite beautiful.

Creating the color was quite the challenge using only water based stains and the protective oil finish.

The koi fish patterned TOMO. A truly unique custom guitar with many little details that all play into that black / red / white theme.

The japanese garden provided the perfect scenery and captured some truly beautiful photographs.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do and please let me know your favorite shot, as I seem to cannot boil it down to just one… It was already tough selecting shots for this post.

A completely different TOMO meticulously designed based on all the fantastic ideas of Peter Joseph ( ).

The color of the body was something I took extra care of to match Peter‘s high expectations. I do not spray on any color or finishes, but apply stain to the actual wood by hand, so it meant a lot of testing and going back and forth to achieve this result.

The roasted maple neck is absolutely insane - no additional words (or fretboard inlays) required!

Equipped with the absolute newest generation of the LockMeister including the most advanced and luxurious looking black pvd finish.

I‘m looking forward to the massive tones, riffs and melodies this TOMO will produce in the hands of a legend like Peter who will receive this guitar asap!
