Our Story
The high dam is located near Aswan north of the Egyptian’s Sudanese borders, it was built during the 1960’s its construction took almost ten years. In 1952, the Revolutionary Council government of Egypt decided to build a High Dam at Aswan, about four miles from the old dam. It was built to prevent the damage form floods that Egypt experienced every year from the River Nile. Today it provides Egypt with electricity and irrigation Lake Nasser, the reservoir created from building high dam, is one of the largest reservoirs in the world.
