This is the transformation of a client’s garden, moving from shade to sunlight. The site was initially poor, rocky soil, which we enriched with high-quality compost. Under the carob tree, we created a serene area with acanthus, an aralia, and a mutabilis rose. As we moved toward the sun, the foliage flourished with creeping thyme, erigeron, pittosporum, sage, and agapanthus. We also added rounded corten steel blades that contrast with the angular concrete, creating a dynamic interplay of textures. At the back of the bed, there is a dry garden, which I will reveal later. Each area is tailored to its exposure, and by early spring, we hid the staircase, allowing this once barren ground to become a lush, harmonious garden.
