How important is the sound of the water in a garden! This is a fountain we made for a contemporary garden 'room'. The stone was part of a typical northwest Spain harvestore building for more than two centuries. Its design includes to rise the stone bottom over the water level in order to achieve a deeper, Japanese-like sound.

(English in the lower part) Un buen diseño toma forma tras un tiempo de reflexión y unos bocetos que, en general, certifican el buen sentido, las proporciones y el trazado de los espacios y elementos manejados en esas reflexiones. Así se llega a un paisajismo contemporáneo como el mostrado en este ejemplo.
Hand made sketches feature sometimes long reflexions and thoughts about a specific space or plot. Those drawings usually confirm the good way on wich we were working in our minds, like in this contemporary solution for a rectangular patio.

A coastline evergreen plant for mediterranean gardens: Metrosideros excelsa. Can be used as an isolated medium size tree (picture), as a shrub or as an edge. Beautiful greysh leaves that make a nice contrast with red flowers.

I realy don't know why but Christmas time remind me the intimate winter atmosphere of a japanese patio. Between my personal library there are some treasures devoted to the history, concepts and traditional aims of Japanese Gardens. One of this is that you can see in the picture, a valuable tool to both understand and design those very specific spaces. And, of course, my inspiration comes from our own patio pleasures we've got here in the old Al-andalus Spain.
