In conjunction with The South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE), the Geosynthetics Interest Group of South Africa (GIGSA) and International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, the IGS is pleased to announce the 17th African Regional Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (17th ARCSMGE) on 7-9 October 2019 in Cape Town, South Africa. GIGSA and IGS will contribute to the conference with a Short Course to be held on Monday 7 October 2019. The Geosynthetics Short Course topics and schedule will be announced at a later date. Furthermore, the deadline for abstracts for geosynthetic based papers has been extended to 31 January 2019. We highly encourage members to participate in this opportunity. 35 years ago today, the IGS was founded as the International Geotextile Society in Paris,France on 10 November 1983. The IGS General Assembly later approved the change of name to the International Geosynthetics Society in 1994. Happy birthday IGS!

Student Presentation Competition - CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

IGS North America - formerly NAGS invites students to submit abstracts for their Student Presentation Competition, for the Geosynthetics Conference 2019 in Houston Texas.

Selected finalists will receive a complimentary conference registration. In a special plenary session, a panel of judges will select the best presentation and award the winning student a cash prize.
