This 1 rogue plant, that grew from a random seed last year has given me such pleasure all season. Watching it grow, get bigger and survive the heatwave, I never watered it once. Flowers for the bees 🐝 and seeds for the birds and beauty and resilience for our eyes and soul 🌻

I’ve found them a surrogate mum. She’s an old hen that sleeps on the bottom of the coop and she seems happy to have them. She even makes the clucky noises.

Yes on Sunday morning the fox or a hunting dog took the best mother hen I’ve ever had. The chicks were getting out and she had found a way to follow them. Opportunistic predator was happy… but not clever enough to snaffle the babies.

OMG it was so gooood Spicy, smoky, salty and sweet
