I’m always happy to consider custom makes using people’s own fabric. I recently received a request to make a doorstop from some small remnants of a treasured sari and was told to make anything else if I could. Managed to make a two tone doorstop and a small coin purse with the pieces I was sent. Have to admit, sari fabric is not the easiest to work with as it is so lightweight.

A barkcloth fabric makeup bag which is perfect for makeup or even gadgets. The outer fabric has is a vintage barkcloth cotton in stripes of green, grey and turquoise with a black over pattern. Welcome to From Rags To Bags: An eclectic mix of homewares designed to make your house a home.

Based in the heart of Jane Austen country, From Rags to Bags is just a stone's throw from her home at Chawton, in Hampshire. Established in 2008, From Rags To Bags has been designing and stitching handmade handbags and homewares for over ten years.

All of the designs are stitched from clothing, textiles, fabric remnants, discontinued sample books and vintage buttons, together with new fabrics. Some of the products are unique one off designs. Buying a From Rags To Bags product helps to recycle unwanted items, in turn, helping the environment. Charities also benefit, as much of the fabric is sourced direct from charity shops.
