This garden project was all about making the most of an awkward new build space and creating somewhere that actually felt usable and inviting.
The client wanted a pergola that properly suited the garden, but due to the shape and size of the area, a flat pack option simply wouldn’t have worked. We built this pergola completely by hand to fit the space perfectly, using selected solid treated timber throughout, before sanding and staining everything for a much higher quality finish.
Alongside this, we installed new timber decking tailored exactly to the layout of the garden. For longevity, the decking posts were built using composite 4x4 inch posts so they’ll never rot, while the treated timber subframe was coated in black jack waterproofing paint for added protection.
The finished result creates a much better sense of space, with plenty of room for climbing plants to establish over time, all positioned in a real sun trap of a garden.
Bespoke work like this allows us to make the absolute most of a space, rather than trying to force standard off-the-shelf products to fit.
