A huge thank you to the wonderful volunteers from Stannah and Cllr Iris Anderson, who spent a fantastic day helping us tidy up the museum’s front garden!

🌿🌸 Led by our very own Jack, the team worked wonders to make the space welcoming and beautiful for everyone.

🌻 Sunny Morning Update from the Community Garden! ☀️

Our tallest sunflower has officially opened! Check out Jack standing next to this towering beauty 📸👇

The Osteospermums are also putting on a brilliant second show with some gorgeous, vibrant colors, while over in the shady corner of the courtyard, our Hydrangea is extra happy doing its thing. Jack is especially obsessed with the unique coloring on this variety!

This morning’s 1:1 home visit was full of fresh green growth! 🌱

The greenhouse is thriving—peppers and tomatoes are coming along beautifully. We also picked a wonderful harvest of runner beans, a fresh courgette, and a few tasty French beans to boot! 🧺✨

Now, we’re shifting gears to look ahead: setting up crop rotation, planning out nutritious winter produce, and even laying the groundwork for next spring.

Therapeutic gardening isn't just about what we grow today—it’s about having something wonderful to look forward to in every season. 💚

If you or a loved one would like to find out more about personalised 1:1 home visits, feel free to send a message or get in touch today! 📩👇

This mornings home visit.

It was all about feeding at the allotment today! Runner beans are coming on and a couple more courgettes too.

Sadly something has been at the baby leeks that we sowed a couple of weeks ago. Only a few left!

Will need to get the netting up to protect the others.

🌱 Community Garden Update! 🌱

We are so grateful to have picked up a fantastic haul of new plants for the Dig for Dementia community garden today—and it didn't cost us a single penny! 🥳

A huge thank you to the Dobbies Community Garden Grant for making this possible.

A lot of thought went into choosing the right plants for our space. We selected varieties that are:
🐝 Bee-friendly to help our local pollinators
☀️ Drought-tolerant
🐾 Non-toxic if accidentally ingested
🔁 Perennials that will come back year after year (with a little love and care!)

Here is what we brought home today (check out the picture! 📸):
Echinacea (Coneflower) 🌸
Salvia (Microphylla) 💜
Nepeta (Catmint) 🌿
Tiarella (Foamflower) — perfect for filling one of our shady spots! 🍃
(We also snagged a new hose reel while we were there, which will be put to great use as soon as we're able to use it again!)

Which of these is your favorite? Let us know in the comments below! 👇

A sunny morning at the community garden today ☀️

Our first Sunflower is open - a big thank you to our friends at the Havant gardening group for the seedlings.

Two of the Basil cuttings have taken 🌱

We made a water station for our smaller friends too 🐝

Join us on Tuesdays 10-12 at Andover Museum - all welcome! 💚

Yet more crops at yesterday’s home visit! The size of that carrot! 🥕

It’s such a joy to support people doing what they love. Growing and gardening. 💚

The total harvest included, carrots, yellow courgettes, red Duke of York potatoes, rhubarb and tomatoes from the greenhouse. 👨‍🌾

What an incredible day at the Museum front garden! 🌿✨

This space was in desperate need of some TLC, and it was definitely too much for one person to tackle alone. Thankfully, the fantastic volunteer team from Stannah stepped in to help—and boy, did everyone put in some serious work today!

A huge thank you to the Stannah crew, our Deputy Mayor for stopping by, and to everyone in the community who popped over to say hello or offer a word of encouragement.

Swipe through the photos below to check out the team in action and see the BEFORE & AFTER transformation! We’ve completely cleared out the weeds, leaving a clean canvas prepped and ready for planting later this autumn. I’ve already got plenty of ideas brewing for what’s going in the ground... stay tuned! 🍂🌷

Sometimes all it takes is a little shared time and effort to look after and transform our community spaces.

What would you love to see planted here come autumn? Drop your ideas in the comments! 👇

We will be there! Looking forward to it 🌱
