As we enter the last weekend in August and it looks like the weather is turning to Autumn we start to tidy up our gardens to get them winter ready, but in trimming back shrubs and trees and clearing piles of leaves our wildlife is losing valuable shelter. Adding some nestboxes to your space is a great way to provide some much needed shelter for Autumn and Winter for the birds and mammals around us. Don't forget that with the recent heat it is important to make sure your garden wildlife has access to water. Clean bird baths are great for the birds, and a small garden pond is also perfect (but make sure there are easy escape routes for hedgehogs). Leaving a shallow dish of water will help all the wildlife in your garden.
