The sun is out, for at least a day, it feels like spring, so what better day to do my first lawn of the year.

If you plan to do yours, just make sure you only 'top' it. Raise your mower right up and just shave off half an inch, anymore and you'll stress the grass and damage it. You can gradually shorten the grass later in March and April.

Just trashed this lawn. It was green and lush before! Of course deliberate. Perfect time of year to use this monster of a machine to hollow tine. It takes out these 4 inch plugs, aerating the lawn, reducing compaction and improving drainage. Along with scarification and then overseeding it will soon be looking great again and in great health to survive the winter and burst into life next spring. Every lawn can benefit from this process and now is the perfect time with the warm wet weather.
