Creative director Lorraine Macdonald Griffin began working with this medium in 1991 when she was employed by Sirocco in Inverness as Head of Design and Product Development. Lorraine immediately fell in love with the tactile effects produced by the sandblasting process.

SSC use the sandblasting process to create relief and recessed images, and lettering in a variety of natural material to manufacture signage, paving, interpretation, public artworks, community art projects. Materials used are natural stone, timber, glass and stainless steel.
