Caunter Works is growing, and we’re looking for a hardworking, experienced labourer to join our team!

If you take pride in your work, enjoy learning new skills, and want to work alongside an experienced local builder, we’d love to hear from you.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in all aspects of general building work, as well as specialist wood burner installations and chimney systems, while working across North Devon.

You must be confident & experienced in all aspects of general building delivery high quality work on every single job no matter how big or small

🔨 Another job uncovered… and another problem solved!

This one started with a straightforward request to replace the failing lintel above the front window with a new concrete lintel.

However, once we carefully removed the old lintel & surrounding render, we discovered that a large section of the existing render had blown and was no longer securely bonded to the wall. Rather than simply patching around the new lintel and leaving a hidden issue behind, we discussed the findings with the customer and carried out the necessary repairs.

We removed all of the loose render, prepared the wall correctly, and re-rendered the affected area with a rough render s**t finish to match the existing texture as closely as possible. This means that when the customer repaints the property, the repairs will blend in seamlessly and leave a long-lasting finish.

At Caunter Works, we believe in fixing the problem properly—not just the bit you can see. 👌

🏡 A simple solution that has made a huge difference! 🏡

Our customer had been experiencing drainage issues during wet weather, with water struggling to disperse in this courtyard area.

To resolve the problem, we removed the old flower bed area and installed a new French drain, finished with decorative stone to improve drainage and help protect the property from excess surface water. 💧👌

While we were carrying out the works, the customer also took the opportunity to have a good tidy-up of the courtyard – and what a difference it’s made! The whole space now feels much larger, brighter and far more usable. 🌿✨
