() ・・・ We are excited to be teaming up with (VWT) to restore Britain's wildcat population outside of Scotland! 🐾🐱 • One of Britain's rarest mammals, the European wildcat disappeared from England and Wales over 100 years ago. A healthy wildcat population is important for helping to restore the balance in the ecosystem by controlling predator and prey numbers. • There will be many steps to ensuring a successful reintroduction, which is still a few years away. As a first step, VWT and Durrell have undertaken an initial study to identify potential landscapes for reintroduction. The next stage will be to conduct more in-depth ecological and social feasibility studies within these areas to find out which will be the most suitable as a release site. • Throughout this project we will be working closely with the local community, taking into full account their needs and views. • 📷: Mark Williams • http://bit.ly/2WiPtkK
