In this heat, consistency is everything. It’s not just about how much water you provide, but when and how you provide it.

Why a Watering Plan Matters:
Prevents Stress: Plants go through physiological stress when they oscillate between extreme dryness and sudden saturation. A plan keeps their moisture levels stable.

Encourages Deep Root Growth: Short, frequent sprinkles encourage roots to stay near the surface where the soil dries out fastest. A good watering plan ensures water reaches the deeper root zones, building more resilient plants.

Efficiency: Watering during the cooler parts of the day—ideally early morning—dramatically reduces evaporation, meaning more water reaches the plant and less is lost to the atmosphere.

Pro Tips for the Heatwave:
Early is Best: Target the early morning hours. This prepares your plants to face the midday sun with fully hydrated cells.

Target the Roots: Avoid overhead watering. Aim your hose or watering can directly at the soil base to reduce leaf fungus and ensure the water goes exactly where it’s needed.

Mulch is Magic: If you haven’t already, add a layer of organic mulch around your plants. It acts as an insulation blanket, keeping the soil cool and retaining moisture for much longer.

Know Your Plants: Not all plants have the same needs. Grouping plants with similar water requirements together makes your watering plan much easier to manage.
