We quote a lot of customers for EV chargers either through partners or direct outreach - a lot of the quote rejections are customers saying octopus energy can install for X or British Gas can do it for Y.

There’s a reason for this. They’re actually selling and installing chargers at a loss.

The charger isn’t where they make their money — the electricity tariff is.

When you see deals like “Get an EV charger for £X when you join our tariff,” the low price isn’t the real product. The real product is you becoming a long-term customer buying thousands of kWh from them over the years. That’s where the profit lives.

Energy companies care more about selling electrons than selling chargers. The charger is just the “Gift”. Once you’re on their EV tariff, especially smart ones like Intelligent Octopus, they can shift charging to cheaper periods, balance the grid, and still earn steady revenue.

So when they basically subsidise the charger, it’s strategy.

They’re not in the charger business. They’re in the energy business ⚡️🔌

🚨 Emergency Call-Out 🚨
Contacted by a customer who had no hot water or heating. On inspection, discovered multiple faults with the existing boiler — the biggest issue being a hole in the casing.

✅ We sourced and installed a brand-new boiler the very same day, ensuring the customer wasn’t left without heating or hot water.
🛠️ The new boiler comes with a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty.

Another install from Ashley, A back boiler conversion for a customer who wanted to switch to a new electric combi boiler — to work alongside their solar panels ☀️

He also removed the old asbestos water tank safely and it was collected by third-party licensed contractors.

Just wrapped up a difficult but lovely EV charger install — and this one came with a twist - and a heatwave 🥵☀️

The previous electrician advised the customer that expensive groundworks would be needed to run a new supply to the garage… but after a site assessment, we found a better way. ✅

Using existing ductwork, we pulled in a new 10mm² cable from a switch fuse in the meter cabinet (also installed by us)— no digging, no massive groundworks bill. We then:

🔧 Upgraded the garage fuse board with full surge protection, and full RCBOs
🔌 Installed the EV charger from the new garage board
