03:30 start and a 450-mile drive… great way to start the week 😅

We’re back up at one of the furthest points in Scotland this week, continuing with our 33kV IDNO substation fit-out project.

This visit will see the team installing the final few panels, carrying out panel modifications, and starting to terminate the 33kV cabling across site.

It’s going to be a busy few weeks as we edge closer to finally getting this project over the line.

May done & dusted… and somehow we’re already edging towards the halfway point of the year 😳

It’s been another busy one for the team, up and down the UK delivering projects and putting in the graft.

🔋 We completed all outstanding snags, labelling and installation works on a 50MW BESS site to help get the site ready for trading. This meant weekends away, hundreds of miles from home, and a proper team effort to get it over the line.

⚡️ Over 1,500 metres of SWA installed across some seriously tricky routes, followed by all cables being terminated into the LV panel.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 We also had a team up at one of the furthest points in Scotland completing pre-tests on 33kV cabling, getting everything ready for termination later this month.

A massive effort from everyone involved as always. Plenty of miles, plenty of graft, and some great projects ticked off.

Out with the old, in with the new 🔋

After a large flashover on the Busbar Section of the Customers 11KV switchgear, the team were called in to bring their network back. Installing new switchgear housings & Oil Circuit Breakers
We also replaced 2 Pitch filled cable boxes with Air Boxes & installed some new Triplex Cabling.

Working around the clock to minimise downtime and get the customer back online as quickly as possible 🔧

Like a scene out of breaking bad. But instead of Narcotics it’s PCB’s (see the last photo) 🥼

As we carry on with the project where we’re replacing some 11KV Switchgear due to a massive flashover. We have been tasked with replacing 2 Pitch filled Cable Boxes with some Air Boxes

One of the transformers had trace amounts of PCB’s (A Chemical used in the 70’s/80’s, which has since been classed as a cast carcinogenic) So the team had to get fully suited & booted to drain the Insulating Oil from the TX.

Overalls, chemical gloves & respirators. It was a very hot for our engineers 🥵

The great thing about this job is that not every 2 days are the same

When it goes bang, it properly goes bang 💥

It’s not every day you come across a flashover like this.

The busbars inside two 11kV OCB switchgear cubicles have completely flashed over, quite literally melting the bolts inside them, covering everything in a thick layer of carbon and badly damaging the clusters on the Oil Circuit Breakers.

Over the next few days, the team will be replacing the damaged 11kV switchgear cubicles and Oil Circuit Breakers to get the installation back to where it needs to be.

A serious one, but exactly the type of job the team can’t wait to get stuck into 👌🏽

Another project done & dusted 👌🏽

Over 1,500 metres of SWA installed and terminated — and it definitely didn’t come without its challenges. Some seriously tricky cable pulls on this one, but as always, the team got stuck in and absolutely smashed it.

There’s no better feeling than stepping back at the end of a project and appreciating the workmanship, graft and attention to detail that goes into what we do 😍

Some serious miles covered by the team over the last couple of days, with Current Innovation travelling across 3 countries in 2 days 👊🏽

Over the last few weeks, we’ve been installing close to 1,500 metres of SWA, with some seriously difficult pulls along the way.

One of them being 230 metres of 50mm 5-core, pulled through ducts and routed through an entire school… definitely not one of the easier ones 😅

This week, the team arrived back on site to start terminating all of the sub mains into the LV panel.

Cable tray only a couple hundred millimetres off the ceiling, tight working space, awkward positions… you know, the usual fun.

A solid start made this week, with another 4 days on site next week to get everything finished off.

Great effort from everyone involved as always 🔋⚡️

Today marks the 5th BESS site we’ve helped take over the line and what a feeling that is 👌🏽🔋

We were brought in on this one to complete all LV live and dead testing, close out the outstanding snags, and label cables site-wide to bring everything up to compliance ready for trading.

The team all mucked in, working weekends and spending time hundreds of miles away from our families to get it done.

A cracking effort from everyone involved and another BESS project delivered.

Unfortunately, no photos were allowed on this project, so we’ve put together a collection of other BESS projects we’ve completed along the way.
