Site Visit: Rear Extension in Progress

Take a look at what's happening on site as we extend this home 4 metres to the rear and completely transform the layout.

What's happening on site:
a. Rear and side walls coming out, with a steel beam going in
b. Lean-to pitch roof with interlocking tiles, set on a raft foundation
c. New outdoor patio being created, with steps leading down
d. Sliding door on one side and a new window on the other
e. 3 skylights being added to bring in natural light
f. Concrete slab flooring with underfloor heating throughout
g. Kitchen being ripped out and rebuilt as part of the new extension
h. New WC being added, partitioned off from part of the original kitchen space
i. The whole space opened up to create a seamless flow from the existing home into the new extension

This project is all about creating a bigger, brighter, more functional home with a new kitchen, extra outdoor space, and a layout that just makes sense.

When a "cheap" builder costs you £40,000 more than you bargained for

This customer paid £50,000 for a 16.5 sqm side extension — and was left with bent walls, mismatched blockwork, and a builder who never finished the job.

At J M A Group, we're now stepping in to put things right.

What we're doing to fix it:
a. Tearing down the poor-quality work and rebuilding from the ground up
b. Checking the ground works and confirming everything with the local council
c. Installing 3 new windows and a doorway, positioned properly this time
d. Adding a lean-to pitch roof and a new internal door
e. Boarding, skimming, and insulating the extension to the standard it should've been done at from the start
f. Rebuilding the ground works properly, start to finish
