A building analysis is regularly carried out to evaluate the overall integrity of the building structure and its energy efficiency using thermal infra red images but it is becoming more common to use thermal cameras as means to finding faults as they are a great tool for finding water leaks, faults in under floor heating, damp ingress, missing or a break down of insulation, blocked pipes or genera
l damage caused through cracks, animals or plants. A normal building survey might fail to detect these issues saving time and money and they are pin pointed in a non destructive manner
Thermal Cameras are also extremely effective in an electrical application due to them detecting slight temperature variations in components and wiring. As well as finding current faults with a system they are just as useful being used in a preventative manner, finding problems in the property before they cause any disruption with blown fuses/circuit breakers, damaged components/wiring or a potential fire. The most common problems in a electrical system are:
Overloaded circuits
Unbalanced phases
Loose connections
Under sized cabling
