A piece of ingatestone history, brought back to life. 🏡✨

We recently had the privilege of completing the full refurbishment of this beautiful historic property in Ingatestone — a building with a fascinating story stretching back more than 400 years.

At one stage, the property was known as the Corner House Barn, and a building of the same shape can be seen on a map dating back to 1601.

At the time, the property stood on the corner of what is now Ingatestone High Street, where the site was known as The Cross Keys, serving the horse and carriage coaching trade along the old Essex Great Road between London and Colchester.

It is believed the barn may originally have provided stabling for the inn, giving this remarkable building a connection to the people, horses and travellers who passed through Ingatestone centuries ago.

For PMD Projects, projects like this are about far more than simply renovating a home.

Our role was to carefully refurbish the property for modern-day living, while respecting its original character, history and the architectural features that make buildings like this so special.

It certainly came with its challenges and wasn’t straightforward at all. However, we have absolutely loved working on this home and bringing its unique character back to life.

Every decision was made with the past in mind, while creating a beautiful home ready for the future.

🏡 Shenfield, Essex | Project Update

This beautiful traditional home is now entering the final stages of its complete transformation, with handover expected within the next eight weeks.

Our team has made fantastic progress across every aspect of the build:

✔️ Roofing works complete
✔️ External render complete
✔️ New windows installed throughout
🎨 Painting and decorating well underway
🛁 Bathroom tiling progressing beautifully
🪚 Second fix carpentry in full swing
🚰 Second fix plumbing underway
🍽️ Kitchen installation in progress

Every detail is coming together, and it’s exciting to see this renovation evolve into a stunning family home. A huge thank you to our dedicated team and trusted trades for their continued hard work and craftsmanship.

✨ Shenfield Project Update ✨

Our Shenfield project is making fantastic progress and really starting to take shape:

▪️ The final glazing is now being installed, bringing the exterior to life
▪️ Roof tiling is moving ahead at pace
▪️ Internal plastering is now commencing as we push into the next phase of finishes

It’s exciting to see the transformation happening week by week, with every stage bringing us closer to completion.

Shenfield Project – Progress Update 🔨

Great progress being made on our Shenfield project as we move into the mechanical and electrical fit-out stage.

Current works on site:
• Plumber’s first fix underway
• Electrician’s first fix in progress
• Structural works and floor construction taking shape

Next up:
• Windows installation commencing next week
• Roof tiling starting next week

This is where the project really starts to come together behind the scenes, setting the foundation for the final finish.

Transformation of the ground floor of this existing home.

This project includes:
• Complete reconfiguration of the downstairs layout
• Installation of structural steel beams to replace loadbearing walls
• New roof construction
• External blockwork currently underway for a parapet wall
• Carpentry works to the flat roof
• Full replacement of external glazing, including new sliding doors and windows throughout

A major structural and visual upgrade that’s going to completely transform this property.
