Hedge trims and hedge reductions carried out before and after nesting season.

Always mindful of looking after the hedges for our wildlife, as well as garden owners ☺️

A path clean done in one of my regular gardens on a rainy day this week.

This was an elbow grease job!

The whole path was scrubbed with a hard bristled brush and sharp sand to remove algae, bringing out the natural colour of the stone, and making the path much less slippery!

Although jet cleaning is a service I provide, in some instances, a more gentle approach to cleaning is the better option. ✨

This small neglected garden area was to be turned into a little kitchen garden.

The brief was to create this, re purposing materials already found in the garden.

After an initial clear of unusable materials, I hand built some new raised beds from timbers found around the garden, painted them and installed them. Wood chips were applied to the surrounds for a natural, organic look.

New compost was added, along with a selection of vegetable plants grown from seed.

Both the garden owners and I are looking forward to seeing what we can produce for the kitchen this year!

Garden transformation over the last couple of seasons.

In, the area had to be cleared by hand of brambles, nettles and waist high grass.

The lawn has been lovingly restored, and flower borders created to include perennial, biennial and annual plants.

This year will see further additions to the flower borders 🌸🌼🌺

This garden owner wanted to create a meadow garden. 2023 was it‘s first year of development. We worked with the existing lawn, and let it grow to reveal existing wildflowers.

Springtime revealed snakeshead fritillary, cowslips, self heal, bluebell, ribwort, wild geranium and forget-me-not.

We added oxeye daisy, ammi majus and achillea milefolium, all of which I grew from seed.

It was all cut back in September, ready for the new season.

Strips of new perennial wildflower beds have now been incorporated.

Yellow rattle has also been sown to parasitise the existing grass and help the balance of wildflower growth.

Watch this space.. 🌱🌸

Another 2023 project.

A new lawn created on a budget. The whole area was raked clear of stones and debris. 2 bulk bags of new topsoil were transferred and levelled. The whole area was then sown with grass seed and netted.

The result was a lovely green space by June ☺️

One of my biggest single projects of 2023.

580 thyme and chamomile plants planted into newly laid topsoil, to create a highly scented, pollinator friendly lawn with a difference 💚💜

The owners of this garden have entrusted me with the absolute privilege of developing a perennial meadow within their garden, which is set amongst some mature trees.
This will take a couple of years to develop to full potential.

But it’s fascinating seeing the wildflowers emerging within the uncut grass, with little interference so far.

Among them, cowslips, wild geranium, oxeye daisy, bluebell, self heal, and forget me not.

The only additions this year from me are achillea and ammi majus.

It’s amazing what nature does by herself if we just sit back and watch..

Log store designed to spec, then hand built (by my professional Joiner husband), and installed this weekend.

Made from green oak. With gabions containing stone from a fallen dry stone wall in the garden.

A living roof has been planted on the store, which will be framed by the amazing backdrop, and which will provide food for pollinators.

Next stage will be the complimentary planting surrounding this feature.
