This is another reason why EICRs are so important.
An elderly gentleman called us saying his fuseboard was hot and could smell burning. I guess few more minutes and it would have ignited the whole board and house with it!

You can just see in this photo that just 2 of the conductors of this multi stranded 6mm cooker cable have been connected, leaving the rest hanging behind. Result was reduced currently carrying capacity, overheating and then combustion....

Not surprisingly every termination in the board was also loose!
