Day 6 final Coalfish bonanza

Another rough weather day due to big winds yesterday and last night.
We got lucky with our boat nearly brand new and the best of the fleet so we were the only group to get out to our Coalie honeyholes.
First one we only wrinkled out a couple of biggies but the second was on fire! Tide was just right and we all lost count of the number of fish we boated until the tide dropped off.
Even our excellent guide Wilhelm said he'd never experienced anything like it.
Big grins all round when we got back to the marina.
Top lure for me was the excellent Mustad Fishing Europe Big eye bucktail 💥😎🐟
I was a bit worried how we were going to get on with our two friends we'd never met before but Julie and her son were lovely and soon got the grasp of it all. Dan caught some right monsters!
Amazing to fish in such a beautiful part of the world amongst the breathtaking scenery and a real treat to witness Eagles feeding by our boat.
Thank you to all the staff at Nordic Sea Angling especially the brilliant guides Axel, Sevirt and Wilhelm. Hopefully see you all again.
Thank you Phil for organising it all with Sportquest Holidays and for being a good mate and keeping me in check as i can get a bit overexcited at times 😂👍

Day 5 Halibut chasing in a gale.
What a surprise, we woke up to near gale force winds so our guide Wilhelm took us on the Lee side of an island sheltering from the wind. Drifting for halibut with dead livebaits 😉was the method.
After a few drifts my float was away only for the fish to drop the bait! Fussy!
Couple of hours later I'm in again only to reel in a cute orange cod.
Nice relaxing time sat at the back of the boat reminiscing with my mate about our previous fishing adventures.
Highlight was feeding the white tailed sea eagles!
Oh well. Last day tomorrow. Forecast ok for us to get out to the Coalie honey hole.

Day 4 Coalfish bonanza! 💥🐟😎👍

Felt a bit strange fishing without my mate Phil, he decided to have a rest day. Not surprising really as we were all a bit bleary eyed after the late night watching the football. I think you'll agree it was a difficult watch! Again. Argentina in the semi's is gonna be good!
Me Dan and his Mum Julie set off excitedly back to the Coallie honey hole. Not many about but I winkled out a couple of beauties.
We moved marks and found a bigger shoal eager to make our drags screech. Hooking a big Coalie on light spinning gear is certainly a thrill!
Dan has never hooked anything bigger than 5lb before the trip so watching him hauling a near 30lb fish up was a something else. Luckily He was using the indestructible heavy hire gear setup. Nice one Dan. Always a treat to share the excitement of a big fish

We've been very unlucky with the weather so we knocked off early before we got blown overboard.

Tomorrow is forecast windy so we'll suck it and see what happens. Hopefully drift for the elusive Halibut. A big one acted like the taxman on a small fish I was bringing up so we know where they live.
