Contemporary Garden | TBLA

A project where the materials really do the talking.

This garden was built around a two-tone porcelain paving scheme, combining a lighter main patio with a contrasting dark porcelain border to define the edges and tie the different areas together.

The existing levels required careful construction, due to it being perched on an existing structure.

The upper lawn area was finished with artificial grass, giving the client a clean, consistently green space without the ongoing mowing and maintenance of a traditional lawn.

From the structural work underneath to the final paving details, every element has been considered to create a clean, contemporary and low-maintenance outdoor space.

Complete Garden Transformation | TBLA

What started as a tired, dated garden with an open lawn and basic concrete paving has been completely reworked into a multi-level outdoor space with structure, character and defined areas.

The new design introduces large natural sandstone patios, carefully built retaining walls and sweeping curved steps that connect the different levels of the garden.

We also retained and worked around the established planting, creating a much softer relationship between the new hard landscaping and the existing greenery. The new lawn provides a clean central area, framed by planting and stonework.

The result is a garden that feels far more considered, usable and connected, while still working with the character of the existing property.

Good landscaping starts with good foundations, great design is in the details.

Phase One

From an overgrown and difficult-to-manage garden to the first stage of a completely new outdoor space.

The initial works focused on clearing the site and creating the structure needed to move the garden forward. Once the overgrowth was removed and the ground prepared, we installed a large natural sandstone patio, creating a level, practical area and a strong foundation for the rest of the garden.

This project was particularly about creating the framework for the client to manage the remainder of the garden themselves. Rather than completing everything in one go, we’ve established the key hard landscaping and created a usable space that the client can now build upon at their own pace.

A good landscape doesn’t always have to be completed in one hit — getting the structure right first gives you the freedom to develop the rest over time.

Front Garden Refresh | Todmorden

A refresh to this front garden bed, bringing it back under control and giving the existing planting a much cleaner, more defined finish.

We cleared and tidied the overgrown areas, carefully worked around the established hedging and tree, refreshed the planting, and finished the bed with a fresh bark mulch.

A new gravel strip and clean edging also help define the planting area from the surrounding driveway and path, creating a much sharper and more maintainable finish.

Sometimes you don't need to completely redesign a garden, a good clear-out, some considered planting and the right finishing materials can make all the difference.

A lovely little lawn transformation.

We stripped off the old lawn, re-levelled the area, then added 50mm of fresh topsoil before laying new Emerald turf for a clean, crisp finish.

Simple changes done right can make a huge difference!

Straight onto the next one!

This property had recently had new sewer drains fitted and was crying out for some fresh ideas.

It’s another project that will develop over time, but a strong structure is now in place — working with the natural slope of the garden and focusing on key drainage areas.

We’ve also added a Neo Timber fence and gate in Antique, alongside a generous amount of Autumn Brown sandstone, finished off with a fresh new lawn
