"Since purchasing The Lodge back in the summer of 2020, we’ve continually reinvested in modernising the building both inside and out. The exterior walls and windows look nothing like the original shell, and we couldn’t have been more happier with the end result. The shared spaces, bedrooms and showers are some way to nearing our goals of modernising the lodge fully, but we’ve also been mindful of our energy, particularly given the cost!
So this January we reinvested, with some support from Future Proofing Fund, in a 20kw in-roof solar PV and batteries to reduce our carbon footprint further, and hopefully make significant savings on our energy costs.
As time goes on, we’ll look to build on this and further reduce our carbon footprint to hopefully zero in years to come.

The historic ᴡɪʟʟᴏᴡ ɢʟᴏʙᴇ ᴏᴜᴛᴅᴏᴏʀ ꜱʜᴀᴋᴇꜱᴘᴇᴀʀᴇ ᴛʜᴇᴀᴛʀᴇ Set just outside of the picturesque town of Rhayader is taking a major step towards environmental sustainability with the installation of an innovative solar power system with battery storage. Powys Solar have recently completed work on a 6kW ground-mounted solar photovoltaic array coupled with a 9.5kWh 𝙂𝙞𝙫𝙀𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙮 𝘽𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙮 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙖𝙜𝙚 𝙨𝙮𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙢.

The new installation is expected to offset a significant portion of the theatre's annual electricity consumption, drastically reducing its carbon footprint and operating costs. As the curtains rise on a new era of eco-friendly performances, the Willow Globe stands as a shining example of how cultural establishments can embrace renewable energy solutions to pave the way for a greener future.

This state-of-the-art setup will not only provide clean electricity to power the theatre's operations but also ensure reliable power availability thanks to the GivEnergy battery backup. "We're thrilled to bring this cutting-edge technology to Willow Globe," says Andrew Lister, Managing Director of Powys Solar. "The GivEnergy battery system is a game-changer, allowing the theatre to store excess solar power generated during the day for use at night or during cloudy periods."

The GivEnergy battery boasts an impressive depth of discharge of 100%, meaning every last bit of stored energy can be utilized efficiently. Its robust lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) chemistry ensures a long lifecycle of over 6,000 cycles, providing an incredibly durable and low-maintenance solution.

Powys Solar , and A C Lister Electrical from Llandinam have recently installed an 80kw Solar photovoltaic installation on the flash leisure centre in Welshpool.

This system will have huge cost savings for the leisure centre allowing them to cut their annual electricity usage and lower their carbon footprint in a bid to offset their 500kwh energy usage per annum.

This is freedom leisure’s first step towards a greener future for the Flash leisure centre, and a great opportunity to harvest the suns energy.

After obtaining full permission from the district network operators to connect a new network generation of 80kw, POWYS SOLAR and AC LISTER ELECTRICALS, have designed this renewable energy system and procured all of the latest technologies required for it from local suppliers in Powys.
